i wonder why the ski-jump us not placed more forward, now you have lost 5 meters of desk space………

nice pictures indeed, gives a good view on construction

There will be a 76mm Oto Melara gun mounted forward, where it has a good field of fire (forward arc of 180+ degrees). You can make out the (white covered) base of mount on the deck forward of the ski-jump.

http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/commandante/images/Commandante_4.jpg That’s the Commandante class. The other version shown above is this one:

It seems to be just a mast. It’s built for the ministry of Transport. No big fighting ship 😀 But probably very handy with that helicopter!

In the second shot is also one of their new NUMC project ‘Cigala Fulgosi’ class OPV’s.

One thing you have to say for the Italians – they do build ’em pretty!

I think that’s what they call an NUOVE UNITA’ MINORI COMBATTIMENTO (NUMC). They share the hull but are different from the NUOVE UNITA’ PATTUGLIAMENTO D’ALTURA (NUPA)

Yes, two of them are built for the Italian Navy, one is launched, a few months ago, the other one is still under construction I think.

Is that a U212-class sub in the first pic?

yeah it’s kept in mind, but the Talwar class was looking like this too, before it got its armament. They have put fences on Cavour, all around the ship, that’s something not good for RCS either. I mean, the ship will probably get a lot more cluttered when it receives its weapons and radars.
I of course have to add she’s looking nice. I hope she soon gets outfitted. I like that star on the bow 😀

in the first and sixth pic, a stealth faceting of the deck edges and
overhangs in seen.

looks like RCS reduction is being kept in mind.
