New Route from LBA for Jet2????..

..Taken from Pprune (I know, I know 🙂 ), but the guy seems to know all the details, hope its true along with more AMS flights which would also be great!

New route starting September 2005 from LBA is the long awaited and heavily rumoured Tenerife.
The flight will operate initially 3 times a week, on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Also the Amsterdam will rise from 2 times daily on Mondays to Fridays to 3 times daily.
Some good positive news from Jet 2 for LBA at last after all their
recent start ups from Manchester.

I’m not sure if this has been said befor, but if Thomson’s can fly trans atlantic to Bridgetown, why do people say LBA can not handle/cope with other long haul routes?

Didn’t really want to start a new thread for this, so I looked for this older thread started by me!

Nouvelair are going to be flying to Monastir next summer (2007) on behalf of Thomas Cook from LBA. Flights are on a Sunday arriving 09:00, departing 10:00.

Another new charter destination for LBA, excellent news!

I know Humberside…….. I was referring to LBA, we never have any Cyprus charters in winter.

I shouldn’t really have wrote you ‘cant’, more like ‘there isnt’.

Yes but that reflects the amount of charter work that has gone to the low costs in the last few years, remember you cant operate the likes of Greece, Turkey and Cyprus in winter.

There are some Cyprus charters in winter

I think the fact we have got Arrecife, Las Palmas, Alicante twice a week, Malaga and a Thomson flight on one of those Spanish charter airlines on a Friday to TFS, isnt bad.

The charter programme from LBA this year is better than last winter.

But the BY757 is only doing half the charter it did 4 or 5 years ago and is only based for 3 days during the week.

Im not bothered about the MyTravel subcharter really, they operate just about the same amount of flights with non based a/c, and we have a BY 757 based anyway.

I think next winter looks pretty decent at LBA with 6 Tenerife services per week including both charter and JET2 flights i think our little airport is on the up, however i would of like to have seen Airtours subcharter a based aircraft during the winter.

The LBA – Malaga goes down to 2 times daily next summer cause jet2.com will be using the B757-200’s on this route instead of the Boeing 737-300 Currntly used this summer.

Hope this helps.

Ah right, didnt know that was confirmed cheers :).

So thats 230 seats x 2 = 460 seats
148 x 3 = 444 seats.

So we are still seeing a seat increase which is good, I suppose with AGP probably having mainly leisure pax, they will be less bothered about frequency than business pax might be, both flights have good timings for leisure pax.

HUY – Maybe so, but NCL/BFS/MAN/LBA-MJV, and BFS-BCN/PRG isnt somewhere served by the charter airlines.

Strange..

Speaking of Jet2, (Not entirely LBA related, but I started the thread ;)), does anyone know why they have put the flights from LBA to Malaga and Murcia, MAN to Malaga and Murcia, Newcastle to Murcia and Belfast to Prague, Barcelona and Murcia on sale for summer 2006 already? Seems incredibly early, they only just put the winter 05 flights on sale a few weeks ago.

Charters are already on sale for next summer, maybe trying to get the business of any early bookers?

Also noticed the much publicised ‘Malaga Shuttle’, from LBA has gone from 3 flights a day to 2 flights a day, maybe Malaga had a bit of an overkill from LBA, especially with the weekly Thomson and Astraeus flights.

Does indeed mate 🙂

Whats happened to BritishJet on a Friday? And why does it go via EMA on the inbound?

Nice to see more charters on a Saturday afternoon, they are normally dead in winter 🙂

Record Monthly Passenger Numbers at Leeds Bradford Airport
4 July 2005

For the first time ever, Leeds Bradford Airport saw more than a quarter of a million passengers pass through the terminal during a single month in June. The total throughput of 268,750 was a 16% increase on June last year and brought the total for the year to 1,218,492, which is a 13% increase over the first 6 months of 2004.

The growth in throughput came from a number of airlines. Jet2.com, whose enhanced summer programme includes a new Ibiza service; Air Southwest’s new service to Bristol, with onward connections to Plymouth and Newquay; Flybe’s new services to Southampton and Exeter; and Swedish airline Swefly who now serve Lahore from Leeds Bradford three times a week.

June also saw the opening of a Greggs bakery adjacent to check-in hall B, plus the brand new ‘Lounge Bar’ in the departure lounge and the next few weeks will also see the opening of a new Superdrug store.

Managing Director Ed Anderson said “Half way through our busiest ever year, Leeds Bradford is on target to achieve 2.7 million passengers. We are in discussions with airlines about further new routes during the coming years.”

Fantastic stuff again, things can only get better with the new Jet2 routes in the winter (Two 757s :D), new Thomson flights next summer and the Swefly service seemingly upgraded!

Never knew there was a Superdrug opening, nice to see LBA getting some decent retail outlets, though I would have preffered a Boots to Superdrug for the meal deal ;).

Lets hope the discussions for more routes materialise, im sure it will.

Wow, a Monarch A330! Great stuff 🙂

The Swefly was indeed operated by a 757, though I went to LBA, I couldnt be arsed waiting for it!

Thomsonfly was G-BRIG today, MYT G-GTDK, AEU G-STRB, also an Aeroflight on the Lourdes, D-ARFA.

Great day!
