Take no notice of the nit pickers, at least the aircraft in your collection are not sat in a corner gathering all manner of rubbish not to mention decay. They’re yours so the colours are really up to you. I’d rather see something flying in inaccurate markings than wasting away for want of some TLC.

Ryan PT22
There are two airworthy Ryan PT22’s in the UK – ours at Leicester and the other at Old Warden.
There are 2 more in storage in the UK, apparently being restored to fly.
We will be performing a PT duo at the Old Warden Military Pageant this Sunday ( hopefully shifting the aircraft today) – be there or be square!
The La Ferte aircraft is owned by a syndicate. I was pleased to convert Fabrice Mouton onto type a couple of weeks back. A true enthusiast and very competent pilot – the aircraft is in good hands.
Paint scheme – I think it looks great. I also get the odd person coming up to me and pointing out discrepancies in the paint schemes of my collection.

Dutch Ryans…..
that are wrong colours the dutch never flew that aircraft in those colours. They only flew it in standard yellow/blue colours with US roundels and serials
I am sorry to correct you but the Dutch East Indies Air Force and Navy operated 108 !! Ryans, albeit the Menasco powered STM version…
One surviving Ryan (S-16) is under restoration at the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historic Flight at Gilze Rijen. (as PH-STM)
Here is a pic taken from their website
Greetz,

That’s good news. The more the merrier. Hopefully we’ll see them more often at airshows in that case

There used to be one of those plus a PT-22 in the UK. Are they both still here or was one of them sold abroad a couple of years ago? I’m sure I recall reading that one of them was sold abroad (the 22 I think). Does anyone know where they are/were based?

Looks like there’s some kind of Ryan-hipe
1 new at la Ferté
1 new in Germany (with inline engine)
1 that became active at Seppe
I’m not complaining… very nice aircraft

So it’s in the wrong colours? At least it’s flying not sat in the corner of a barn gathering dust and chicken **** or, worse still, in a field in all winds and weathers slowly dying of neglect. I know which I prefer.

Nevertheless, its still a beautiful aircraft with a very pleasing color scheme.
The owner deserves “A pat on the shoulder & congratulations” for bringing it to Europe.
And also wonderful photos, good work!

Very nice (both the photos and the aircraft). If they fly as good as they look the Ryan trainers would have been a delight to handle.
