Just a heads up on a new series. HELICOPTER WARFARE will be on Channel Five starting on Tuesday May 12th at 20:00 hrs. The series starts with “Falklands” (SAS insertion to South Georgia) and ends with “Iraq” (847 squadron in Operation Telic) This I believe is the British involvement, sandwiched in between are two further programmes one concerning Vietnam and the other is about Afganistan.
The dates are as follows :- Falklands MAY 12th
Vietnam May 19th
Afganistan May 26th
Iraq June 2nd
Part of the first programme was filmed at HMS Sultan where one corner of a hangar was turned into the wastes of South Georgia with snow machines producing a white out situation. I was fortunate enough to witness the making of this part of the filming, two of my workmates even stood in as extras. We supplied both a Wessex 3 and a Wessex 5 for this, getting fake snow out of the aircraft post filming took weeks?
This may be worth setting those recorders going?

Sorry, that’s what I was getting at…..a Wessex 3 (XP110)…..as opposed to the Wessex 3 (Humphrey)! 😮
It’s just a pity Humphrey couldn’t have starred as himself…

Just for the record the real Humphrey wasn’t used we substituted XP 110 for the starring role!
