The Spitfire PR XIX (PS890) based at Chino is now based in France near Dijon. We will see it at La Ferté Alais in May and I hope for the Flying Legends this summer

Why have they changed the kill markings?

Nooky Booky yesterday

as you can see, same color but just a little difference.
The contra-prop spitfire will be at LFA for the show with also probably the Morane 406 and the list given by Happymeal

Very tempting list so far! 🙂
Is Nooky Booky going to change colours!?

I rather like it. I’m not sure how stock it is, apart from the prop and wingtips, obviously, but it does look like a cross between a racer and a warbird in that configuration (as opposed to suped-up, beefed-up planes like the Sea Furies and Mustangs of Reno).

I’m disappointed in you gents.
As an omnipresent-lurking American this is one of those rare opportunities that keeps me reading the board – I want someone from the Spit Mafia to get upset about about this *******ized Spitfire. No takers?
I apologize for being a novice in the area of all things Supermarine, but can someone please summarize the changes PS890 has undergone over the years?
Must say I would much prefer to see it with the correct wingtips and 5 bladed propeller, but on the other hand if someone spends a lot of money buying an aircraft like that its really up to them what they do with it.

A few things that needs to be straightened up, if you mind Gentlemen. Being onvolved in the La Ferte airshow and a ggod friend of the new owner of the contra-prop Spitfire :
– said Spitfire left Chino a couple of days ago or is still about to. Heading to the East coast on a trailor to be loaded on cargo ship, to save 15 days at sea if it had been loaded on a cargo ship on the west coast. Goal is to have it flying in time to be displayed at LFA (aka La Ferte Alais). If things goes according to plan, I dont’ think we would display it static only, because if that monster makes it to LFA, it will have to do so flyinf :dev2:
– there will be no Lancaster at LFA. BBMF declined the invitation, as it meant expanding quite a few flying hours for one airshow vs. many demands in UK owing to 60th anniversary of allied victory in Europe. No contact has been made with CWH, as this thing is still very much a rumor.
– bookings have been confirmed so far for : Hawk 75+Spit V+Hurricane from TFC, Me 109G-4, Jacquard Corsair, French markings Corsair, Spitfire Mk XIX contra-prop, Achim Meyer’s Yak-3. + resident P-51D Nooky Booky, B-17 The Pink Lady, Ju 52, Skyraider, Yak-11s, etc
Date is may 14 and 15.
Ya’ll welcome but beer is not on me ! 😀

Evenin’ all,
If you get to see the contra prop, make sure you get to listen to it from in front of the blades and behind (i.e. as it taxis past, or you move past it ground running). The difference between the cotraprop gearing noise (front) and Griffon (rear) is amazing.
Enjoy.

Weard…
Christophe Jacquard told me how difficult it was to land his MkXIV at Dijon, a downhill short grass field (I know… it must be uphill the other way!… 😀 ), and disregard the concrete field even shorter.
Apparently, he could not resist to get contra-prop experience… nice !
Will go to Dijon in few weeks, will post pictures if I find the right way…

How about a Forum meet at La Ferté Alais.
I will be driving and can accommodate 3 others comfortably. That is of course unless someone is flying and can offer me a seat?

Well, it would be a nice present for all of us Martin. I’m already cleaning my camera and hope to be able to make the trip this year!

I hope it does appear at La Ferte. It shure would be something unusual to see. (contra rotating prop!).

Absolutely Franck. I make no comment on where it may or may not appear this summer, simply that it is not yet ‘based in France near Dijon’.
Yes in other words “its not actually in France now!”
