Was reading the stroy of the F7U Cutlass in a mag that I have and was wondering, could new tech over come a lot of the problems in some of the old designs such as this plane? The designs seemed to be way ahead of their time.
The Cutlass’ main problem was it’s lack of power and reversed flight controlls (haven’t read the end of the stroy yet so don’t know how they fixed that problem). But Considering the tech available today- FADEC, HOTAS, FBW, FBL and reliable engines, would it be possible to redo these designs in to a fully functioning and workable system, or have they been religated to the histroy books simply becasue the tech wasn’t up to the challenge of the design at the time.
I am impressed with the role rate of the plane, 527* persecond, that’s comparable to todays fighters isn’t it?
