http://www.tui-uk.co.uk/press/news_releases/indexFullStory.asp?NewsID=187

Thomson’s Summer 2006 brochures launch on Thursday, 28th April, with new regional flights for both short haul and long haul departures.

Thomsonfly (previously Britannia Airways) will now be offering a range of new destinations from key regional airports such as Cardiff including new routes to Cancun, Dominican Republic, Bulgaria, Heraklion, Tunisia and Naples. The new airport for 2005, Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield has also added Bulgaria, Croatia, Cancun, Turkey, Dominican Republic, Florida and Zakynthos to its departures in 2006. Also included will be Bournemouth to Algarve, Ibiza and Paphos, Liverpool to Bulgaria, Heraklion and Rhodes and also Manchester to Brazil.

Summer Sun 2006.

Flights from Belfast will be included for the first time, bringing the total of UK airports featured in the Summer Sun brochure to 24, including Bournemouth, Coventry, Doncaster, Teesside, Newcastle, East Midlands, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Brilliant new routes for DSA, Cancun, Dominican Republic and Orlando are real boosts.

Of course nothing new from LBA, but we know to expect that from Thomson πŸ˜‰

I dont know how many flights they are operating from Belfast, I imagine it will be a BY a/c on a W pattern from one of the big bases or maybe just purchasing seats on other airlines flights, such as the based MyTravel unit. Either way good news for Belfast, Love that place πŸ˜‰

Does this mean that BFS will have a based BY aircraft next year?

And apparantly the 763s are the last ones to be updated with the new interior… As you say, BY are lagging behind everyone when it comes to the long haul product, mind you, just about every airline is lagging behind FCA nowadays!

Great news.

Of course I’d love to see more long haul up here but if I can get to Cancun without having to go through Manchester, I’m a happy chap. πŸ™‚

Lets just hope BY update their long haul product a bit as I think they’re now seriously lacking behind the others. I’ll know more when I fly with them in June I guess.

Do Britannia have enough 767ER’s for all this new long-haul?

Interesting to see them doing a U-Turn on their idea to sub out lots of their long haul to other carriers over recent years.

prob they might use a MAN or LGW based a/c for the route.
tcx route to MIR this summer from DSA is a bhx based a/c my friend has just started with tcx based at bhx and has got 3 dsa/mir in may for the first 3 mandays.

We’ve always had a based charter unit, for as long as I can remember, a MYT/SSV A320, replaced by a JKK MD83 last summer (which rotated a lot!) and then no based for MYT this summer but BY have got a based unit here now! πŸ™‚

How dense am I, of course you have had a based charter unit.

Just go and bang my head against a brick wall….
