New to here

LAST EDITED ON 22-Sep-00 AT 09:23 AM (GMT)[p]G’day everyone! 🙂
This is my first time here so am learning.
I live in Australia and have just read the July issue of Airliner World, current copy available at newsagents ($A10.04 incl GST).
According to page 20 of the July issue, article Qantas Renews its Fleet, the airline is going to purchase B777’s. How accurate is this article, as I have been led to believe Qantas had signed up for the A3XXX from Airbus Industrie.
Look forward to replies.

RE: New to here

Buying B777 will have no bearing on the QANTAS (and can we all PLEASE spell it correctly, it stands for Queensland and Northern Territories Aerial Service in its initial guise)decision re the A3XX.

The B777 is a long haul, mid size, widebody for medium density routes. The A3XX will be a long haul oversize doubledeck widebody to be used for the most heavily trafficked routes and as a B747-400 replacement.

The aircraft would complement each other.

RE: New to here

Hello peter66,
Welcome aboared. Quantas was just having a look at the 3XX but I believe they were not very intersted in it. If they have made the choice of the 777 I think they have made the perfect choice. The 777 is one of the most modern and versattile aircraft flying today.

cheers:-)
