New to modeling

hi guys i am rarther new to building models and have been at it about a month recently i got the bbmf gift setand have a few questions for you, up to now i have only used enamle paints but the kit comes with acrylic and i was wondering what is the difference between the two types and how would you use them differently, also has anyone here built the bbmf gift set by airfix, and if so are their any major problems with the kit or any minor problems?

Don’t paint over acrylic with enamel or vice-versa. The solvents in the enamel can “craze” the acrylic. I speak from experience.,…..:apologetic:

Acylic dries very quickly but could do with a primer under it, though not necessarily, I use Halfords car grey primer in a rattle can ( it’s acrylic as well ) you also wash your brushes with water with the paints and can thin them with a bit to if needed. Acrylic although dry quick can take a day or so to totally cure so can be not as resilient as enamel until it has.

Before painting I’d wash the bits with water and detergent to remove any mould release agent that will not help the paint adhere.
