Thought it might be worth reviving this thread to keep an eye on aircraft of interest joining/leaving the UK register.

Spitfire MKI X4009 has joined the register as G-EMET for an owner in Bwlch, Brecon.

Also no less than three Me109s, G-CLFI, N and U for two owners…

Having just caught up with this thread – we saw …

The BBC’s Ferguson Monoplane G-CJEN which was registered on May 9th was cancelled as permanently withdrawn from use on June 1st.

We have just watched the 3x BBC programmes on YT – ”The Great Flying Challenge” with Dick Strawbridge,we really enjoyed it – I am not really a DS fan but the ‘fringe benefits’ from watching this prog are worth it alone.

Thanks for the info : )

Wonder if that’s a registration for a positioning flight – HHA usually fly them on military serials for contracts. That serial number seens odd for an mk58, looks more like an F4 one (But Hawker build serials can be confusing!)

EDIT – a bit of googling revealed it WAS an F4 – one of the ones bought back by Hawker for conversion to later marks for export – ex-XF318.

David Griffin’s book has it sold to HHA and stored at Stavanger.

I’ve noticed the following:
Mark:G-CJWL Current Reg. Date:18/01/2017
Previous ID:J-4110 SWISS AF
Type:HAWKER HUNTER MK.58A
Serial No.:HABL-003079
Registered Owners:HAWKER HUNTER AVIATION LTD

The details regarding this Hunter on www.swisshunters.info are a little confusing. It says it was preserved in the museum at Sola in Norway, until 2005, when it was “Now based at RAF Scampton” as G-HHAG, Airworthy in 2012, but then stored at Sola in 2013. I presume the details are incorrect and it has been on the ground at Sola since it was retired. Anyway, great to have another airworthy Hunter in the UK, presumably on a military contract.

Don’t worry. I presume that it’s only the licence payer’s money that the BBC is wasting!

Harry Ferguson’s monoplane, which is over 100 years old ….. is making a return

The plane will be fixed up down at….

Maybe, in its list of priorities, the BBC should relegate restoring replica aeroplanes to flight and elevate ensuring that its reports are (a) factually accurate and (b) not written in ‘americanised’ English. How well this one little report proves the maxim plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

Good to see that Auntie Beeb are spending the TV Licence money on something decent for a change.

Rather bizarre though to have an aircraft registered in their name, presume they are financially involved in the project?

I am not getting any sound off the video, but presumably the aircraft is a replica not the original.

G-CJEN Ferguson 1911 monoplane registered 9th May to the BBC in Belfast.
Apparently an original aeroplane, see:

Also, Bremont’s well known Broussard F-BXCP is now allocated G-HOUR.

Thank you, scotavia. I was trying to be even handed. However having read the other thread, I am now better informed.

Not the case Avion, in another thread here (header Shuttleworth Wildcat) the Wildcat has been noted as moving by road to Duxford about 9 days ago. Background to the airframe history has been posted there as well.
