New Topic.. Airfield Identity!

I thought I would start a new thread on old Raf airfields. Feel free to post photos from google earth of airfields and see if they can be identified! 🙂

Courtesy of Google Earth. Can you ID these old airfields in Britain?

Topcliffe is in the care of the Army, (Alanbrooke Barracks) and has in recent years seen aviation use by RN EFTS and AAC units.

Most of its aviation use is still as an RLG for Linton, hence the relative completeness and the continued use of 2 of the 3 runways.:)

It is indeed Fersfield mate, well spotted! As for 8th AF stuff, not a particular fan, just like planes and airfields in general!

Welcome home by the way!

PJ,

Your top one at #386 I reckon is Fersfield, Norfolk.

Like your 8th AF stuff do you?

yes to all the above…. blimey, that didn’t take long. I thought Acklington would have proved to be a bit trickier….:D

The remaining one is still up for grabs….. (notice the beach bottom right)

What amazes me is how some airfields look almost complete and others are barely visible anymore.
