New Type-C flying helmets

I’ve noticed afew pilots wearing type c helmets that look brand new. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Where would they get them from?

Good luck if you have a bonk on the head in a C type. It was nice to see pilots wearing something a bit more substantial that the DC cloth helmet or the leather and hardshell Campbell at Duxford recently.

I agree, all very well to look nice and original but it offers no protection in the event of an incident.

Ahh yes but it will keep all the mush in one place and make it easier to clean up. 😉

Steve did some excellent repair work for me a few years ago now, but I had heard he had scaled back now and mostly focused on film/tv work. His replica helmets and oxygen masks creep up on ebay now and again.

You’re not thinking of the hard leather helmets by Campbell Aero?

Nope they’re common. These are proper type-c’s.

I did have Steves number years ago as he sorted a helmet out or a friend. I never asked if he made new ones. Certainly haven’t heard him mentioned for afew years now.

Is Sefton Clothing still going? I’m sure Steve made replicas of B and C type helmets.

I know there is a company/individual who did make new B and C type helmets to order, so maybe those.
