Not much of a change, just a loss of much of the red which is a shame. Apparently something to do with counter terrorism, although I don’t see how this is going to make much of a difference.

A light blue would be best colours to blend into sky wouldnt it? Mind you i would go out VFR in a Blue Aircraft as people might not see you :S

ZE700 had been in at LPL for a few days, it looked immaculate and i think the loss of the red tail takes some of its edge away…

The Global Express Aircraft are the base platform for the ASTOR battlefield surveillance system.
Not sure what the latest is with the tanker programme. EADS are still the favoured option with the A330, but there was some talk on PPRUNE of Marshall’s offering either more Tristar’s or 767’s that would be brought out of storage in the desert at a fraction of the cost of new build A330’s leased in under PFI.

The “Royal Flight” largely consists of HS125s, 146s, VC10s and Tristars in terms of what the Royal Family and Government actualy fly on. I assume the A330s (If that is what the RAF is still getting?) will carry the government and Royal Family as well as the 125/146s. A 319LR would never get approved as it will not be able to do much more than just carry round officials, the 330s will at least be multi-role.
Does anyone know if any of the Bombardier Global Expres aircraft the RAF are getting are going to be pax configured at all, or just filled with equipment?

I prefer the old scheme…but if it is going to counter terrorism, i’d rather have this scheme to protect the royal family…..looks more slick i feel. I don’t think the RAF should get rid of the 146’s, they are great little airplanes and are BRITISH!!!! Even though the A319LR is small…its still too big for the role which the 146 carries out.

And RAF grey is even harder to see against the greyish skies we generally get in the UK.
More to the point, if the RAF was not so broke the 146’s would probably have been replaced by now – something along the lines of the A319LR would suit.
It would also allow Blair Force 1 to be created – albeit on a mini-bus.
