New vessel for Thailand

Being built in Shanghai, 511. It is being called an offshore patrol vessel in the Chinese forums. In seems a pretty good sized ship. The bow looks like an 053 but the bridge and front superstructure looks like the F25T. But it looks a bit short or truncated compared to the F25T.

Here are two new photos of the 511, including a good profile shot.

From a full profile view, the vessel looks very streamline and resembles the new 054 FFG. It only when you look at it from the front does it look truncated because the beam is very broad compared to most Chinese FFGs.

My first impression is of the F25T too but its dimensions aren’t quite the same. This vessel has a much broader beam relative to the F25T. The Naresuan class is much slimmer but there is definitely resemblance.

Thanks for the opv picture. It does look different from the 511.

I’m convinced it is related to the F25T design in some way. IMHO, the superstructure has been widened. As a result of adopting a more enclosed (= more stealthy) superstructure, the whole design look a bit stubbier. But the general lay out (locations and shapes of bridge, main mast, funnel, hangar) seems very similar to F25T, although the flight deck is one deck up higher in the OPV.

Besides, this is what the RTN website indicates the OPV will look like:

There is nothing on this vessel yet. It’s one of those examples that suddenly appear out of the blue when someone took a picture. We only know it by hull number, like the 2208 FAC.

No class designation, no specs, no official words. Nothing except four pictures (so far) and a post stating it is for Thailand.

These are the other two picts. Grainier pictures posted in an earlier thread.

weird thing, if you look at the front of the superstructure, it looks very broad.
But then if you look at those davits, it looks like a rather small vessel… Very high Helo platform.
