I have heard that The Hangar 11 collection at North Weald are expecting a new arrival in the new year, any idea’s on what it could be?

The Hangar 11 Staggerwing has a UK military history anyway IIRC. If not UK then US mil…
If it does go back into Military Colours, I think it would be nice if it wore the scheme it had when at Donibristle. As all Fighter Collection aircraft are in very authentic schemes, perhaps this will happen. Who knows…..

DGH – I think they sold it because they were having a rethink of the collection and the B-25 didn’t strictly fit in the scheme of things. I guess they knew it wasn’t a fighter when they bought it! As for the Staggerwing -it’s the ideal aircraft if you want to go somewhere and not run up expensive hours on a Merlin engine . It also has the advantage of being pretty quick .
Thats kind of what I was saying…… 🙂

Shame about the P-40 🙁
Why?????? I’m sure it will be well looked after…. I promise you there is more to life than Duxford.

Isn’t this the same Fighter Collection that sold the B25 because it wasn’t a fighter
Guess this will make a good hack though.

Dave – I guess a P-40 is somewhere in the region of $1.2 million plus – a Staggerwing probably $ 240,000 – I should imagine that it wasn’t a straight swap but those details are the remit of the parties concerned. As for whether it goes into British markings – again – up to the owner!
Thanks David. I wasn’t thinking of swapped in the monetary sense though, just that neither aircraft was new to the UK as the thread title mentioned. Nor is the Avenger also discussed. So, there is apparently no “New Warbird To UK”, or if there is, it ain’t these ones.

In the latest issue of Air Classics it is reported that the FG-1D
that was recently completed by Vintage Fighters has been sold to an overseas buyer. Anybody know which “sea”?Jim Harley
I believe it is heading to Australia to replace one that was going to Australia but was sold on before it arrived (going to Alaska I think)

So much for THT’s Avenger then!

I’d guess that it may go back into Navy Uniform, given that most of the other TFC machines are in military schemes.
That said, civilian yellow is absolutely fine 🙂

So these planes have swapped? So, what’s the aircraft that’s new to the UK then? That is the implication I read in the thread title. None of these aircraft discussed seem to be new to the UK.

Dave, you are very quick!
