Hello,

I am seeking any info on the New Zealand Fleet Air Arm Museum
in New Zealand. Is this museum still open? Where is/was it located? Your help is appreciated.

Museums

There is no Fleet Air Arm Museum , you maybe thinking of the Museum of Transport & Technology [MOTAT]in Auckland , where there is a replica Swordfish , along with a Lancaster , Sunderland , Solent etc.
Also worth a visit , even outside the Warbirds show , is the Alpine Fighter Collection at Wanaka and the airfield of Omaka , Blenheim where the full scale flyable WW1 aircraft are based.

regards
Dave

CC,

Sorry mate, I cannot help you with the museum you are seeking.

However the Air Force museum is located in Wigram on the outskirts of Christchurch (South Island). www.afw.co.nz

There is also a smaller airforce museum located next to RNZAF Base Ohakea (near Bulls – North Island). www.afw.co.nz/index.cfm/Ohakea

The Army museum is located at Waiouru Army camp in the middle of the deserted area of the North Island. www.armymuseum.co.nz

All of these are worth a visit if you are Down Under.

Cheers, MJ
