It’s time to start the 2015 Newark Air Museum Briefing thread, through which I will endeavour to keep people advised of the day to day activities at NAM.
Again I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who visited the Newark Air Museum in 2014 and in so doing helped NAM achieve another increase in visitors. In 2014 the museum recorded the best figures for 20 years and the associated additional income is being used to allow the museum to undertake more restoration and site development projects.
Details will continue to be added to the – News & Information page. If things go according to plan a new format website should be up and running in the coming weeks, which will enable the museum to update all aspects of the site more easily.
The recent Christmas holidays have interrupted progress on Project Panini – The Build, but it is expected that the submission of the Planning Application will be made very soon. As alluded to on another thread fund raising for capital building projects is always a challenge and online donations can still be made via the Just Giving Fund Raising Page – various grant applications are also in progress and NAM is hopeful that these will come to fruition in the next few months.
As ever, details about the other events such as the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Table Top Sale – 7 March 2015; Tribute to our Training Aircraft – 16 & 17 May 2015; Cockpit-Fest 2015 & Aeroboot / Aerojumble – 13 & 14 June 2015 and Victory Days 2015 – 25 & 26 July 2015 can be found in the news pages here!
Footnote: the two adverts in FlyPast and Aeroplane for the March Indoor Aeroboot Sale have already brought in some stall enquiries from some new sellers – hopefully bookings will follow.
At a convenient time would it be possible for a kindly Mod to lock the 2014 Briefing thread?
Don’t forget that the museum will be open again at 10am on Friday 2nd January 2015!
Plus for any motorcyclists heading to the Carole Nash Classic Winter Bike Show that’s taking place on the Newark Showground on 3rd & 4th January, please don’t forget that NAM’s open both days as well!
Happy New Year to you all! 🙂

As you know John I’m always keen to help publicise types connected to RAF Winthorpe etc. :eagerness:
I saw it in the NAM Shop the other day but I only managed to have a quick flick through; it looks quite interesting and I suspect that it might be on my post-Christmas shopping list!
Just spotted elsewhere: “A quick ‘heads-up’ unfortunately the museum website and associated email addresses are currently down; the hosting company has been notified. Call 01636 707170 if you have an urgent enquiry.”

The day after the spring Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Sale NAM is hosting an event to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of attack on the Ransome & Marles bearing factory on 7th March 1941. This one of several being organised in the Newark-on-Trent area and NAM is seeking participants – details in here!
From the website: “The museum will also be remembering 80th anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire, the Rolls-Royce Merlin engines of this iconic fighter used bearings from Ransome & Marles.”
The NAM event takes place on Sunday 6th March and will feature a re-enactment of the rescue efforts in the local factory after the Luftwaffe air raids. It is anticipated that some visiting displays may start arriving on the afternoon of the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Sale, which may add to the footfall for that event.
