I’ve just spotted some news about a new project that is hoped could be completed at Newark Air Museum this morning!

Feedback from NAM this morning indicates that the April 1st fun from yesterday gave the museum website its busiest day ever! With visitors from here representing one of the largest groups – thanks for joining in with the spirit of the original post. 🙂

The Lee Richards Annular was ‘considered’ for the RTF article, albeit briefly as the strength of the structure wasn’t certain enough to allow for the ‘seated’ photograph to be taken. Plus it didn’t have an engine. I guess the irony might have been that most of the Annular ‘flying’ shots in the film were taken with it ‘tethered’ beneath a crane!

Everyone at the museum is now hoping for a really busy school holiday week with lots of youngsters trying out the 40th Anniversary Trail around the undercover displays; which shouldn’t take them much longer than ‘Hancock’s Half Hour!’ 😀

I was hoping it was the Lee Richardson. But I suppose you would need Tony Hancock to finish it. 😉

Part of the RTF evaluation process can be seen in an album of photos that has just been added to the Museum Gallery on the NAM website here! 😀

#2 – The Pirat did indeed operate successfully for several years with the former gliding club that operated from Winthorpe. It was my belief that it was still operating with people from that club (as discussed about these parts with another forumite).

However that is not the case and the Pirat is currently tucked up safely at Winthorpe – although a possible RTF for that glider has also been discussed in the last few months!

#3 – We’re also watching the clock anxiously; I guess the real interest will be how many others are? 😉

Best of luck 😀 – I hope all back safely on a the ground at 1201 hours!

I did not expect to see one of the new iranian stealth fighters in a museum so soon. The sky blue works a lot better than the low viz grey on modern jets.

I would say this is a first, for April – but hasn’t your Pirat already returned to flight?
