Hi,
I am newbie to the forum and I only have an armchair level of expertise (apart from some work I did about 8 years ago on researching techniques to improve maintenance of asphalt covered jointed concrete runways and taxiways for Defence Estates, but that’s another story).
I have been looking at this forum and others trying to get an idea of how, given the fact that the Russian’s and Chinese are developing 5th gen fighters, you would go about countering an attack by stealthed strike fighters.
Can anyone point me to a good resource – as so far as I can see all the discussions revolve around using low frequency radar on ground based air-defence systems and developing your own 5th gen fighter (or buying F-35).
Finally, can anyone tell me if you took cutting edge gen 4.5 tech and built a large powerful (and noisy) fighter with the ability to climb rapidly, reach high operational ceiling with excellent supercruiser and top speed, carrying state of the art BVR missiles and a powerful radar/sensors/ECCM system could you counter a 5th Gen strike fighter (and if so is anyone developing such a aircraft)?
