Newbie needs some hardware

I’m a bit of a novice to Flight Simulators (but coming up to my PPL skill test soon) apart from having played around on FS 2000/2002 a bit. I’m getting a new computer soon, and will be getting FS 2004, and then connecting to the internet to do some flying with live ATC. But I need a control column and pedals and stuff first.

Can anyone suggest a moderately priced:

– Control Column (with PTT button)
– Pedals
– Headset for ATC

Any help would be appreciated!

Can I use driving-game pedals, or would I only be able to use Pilot ones?

Also, what other companies make yokes apart from CH Products?

About the best headset. It comes with a USB adaptor, the advantage being you get engine noise through your speakers, and ATC through the headset.

Also for the yoke and pedals go with CH Products. There good quality!

Now come on CH and Plantronics, cough up my commission 😮

Probably the best value yoke/pedals would be the CH products stuff. Saitek are releasing a new set of pedals soon to. I’ve used CH stuff for years and find they’re good value and the product support has been first class.

Headsets vary hugely, £20-30 will get you a decent PC headset. Plantronics is a brand I’ve found very good.
