Newcastle to Bristol with Easyjet.

EZY 565

Departure time 07.00am

Once again another key moment in my girlfriends uni experience the end of her exams so I thought I would pop down to Swansea to help her celebrate.

Getting up at the god awful time of 4.30am I grabbed some brekkie and hoped in the car taking the country route to avoid getting my new car chipped to death on the relayed motor way. So 2 dead rabbits later I arrived at the Badger which for all those not local to the area is the great pub next to the airport. This is where I was leaving my car for my father to pick up later that day as he was working and could not drive me him self. So I made the quick walk along the edge of the road to the terminal. I walked in and was presented with the Easyjet and Jet2.com desks all busy with ques. So I joined on the end of one of the easyjet ques and soon was at the front ready to check in.

While waiting a PA was made apologising for the wait for passengers getting through security. Once I had checked in I made my way over to WHsmiths and Starbucks purchasing FHM, and a large coffee. I then made my way to the departure lounge but was dismayed to find that the queue from security was going down the stairs and right back to the international arrivals area!! This came as a big shock to me as I knew that NCL had just had a new security area installed where the old Costa’s was located. So I joined this queue which thankfully was moving at a steady pace soon I was approaching the security zone which buy now looked to be back up and running properly. I was asked to produce my boarding card before gaining entry which I did. Then I moved to the scanners and was promptly told to remove my belt and effects , after placing them in the box along with my bag I passed through the scanners for once not setting off the alarm. I then made a bee line for the huge windows that are in the departure lounge at NCL.

You get a great view of the ramp area which was very busy with aircraft.

At the terminal alone there were:

1 British Airways A320
1 Jet2.com 737-300
2 Thomson fly 757-200s
1 My Travel A320
1 Thomas Cook 757-200.
1 KLM 737-???
2 Easyjet 737-700s

Parked on the remote stands were:

2 Jet2.com 757-200s
1 Jet2.com 737-300
1 Flyjet 757-200.
3 Eastern Jetstreams.
3 Easyjet 737-700s
1 Finnair 757-200

So I spent the next 10 mins looking out this window and saw one of the Jet2.com 757s take off very quickly from the runway.

Soon I looked over to the screens to find out that my flight was boarding at Gate 10. I made my way down to the gate to find it parallel with end of the runway This stand I believe is under going construction work so I soon realised I would have to board a coach to my aircraft.

Parked on the stand next to us was Jet2.com 737-300 G-CELX boarding for the first run of the day down to LGW:

Sorry for the bad picture it was taken on my phone.

I grabbed a seat next to the window and soon realised I was in for a treat. As this morning Runway 25 was in use which meant all aircraft wishing to take off had to taxi past me!

First to taxied past was this My Travel A320:

Then came this KLM 737-???

Both took off in quick succession the A320 looking rather sluggish when speeding up, a 2 Thomsonfly 757-200s soon took off after wards showing the Airbus how to take off properly with plenty of power and the sheer style that only a Boeing has.

Just as my boarding group was been called the Jet2 737 began push back:

I made my way down the stairs and boarded one of NCLs scarce bus’s for the ride to my aircraft which was parked remote next to a Flyjet 757 which didn’t look like it was going any where fast. Once the bus came to a stop I was presented with my ride to Bristol. Easyjet 737-700 G-EZJW. I got off the bus and made my way up the stairs and made my way to a seat on the wing escape row. Soon the aircraft was loaded with its passengers we began our push back and then taxi to the runway. As we turned onto the runway I noticed that the gorgeous Finnair 757 was following behind us I believe she was flying out empty as I am pretty sure I saw no passengers boarding her when we drove over. We waited a few minutes at the hold to allow a Eastern SAAB that had just landed to vacate the runway. We then took up a position on the runway and immediately began our take off run! Soon we were airborne and cruising at 29.000 feet heading over Liverpool before I knew it we had started our descent into Bristol upon landing I noticed a rather nice looking BAE 146 parked next to the NMG Cargo bird at first I thought it was a Titan aircraft but upon a closer look I believe it was the 146 owned by Formula one boss Bernie Ecclestone. We parked on a stand next to a First choice 757-200 and disembarked the aircraft, I made my way into the arrivals area picked up my bag and made my way to catch the Bristol Flyer bus down to Temple Meads train station and onwards to Swansea.
