Hello Forum,
my name is Matthias Dorst, and I am the webmaster of http://www.meiermotors.com . Reading this fantastic forum everyday, I think it would be interesting for you if I inform you about the latest news and projects at the MeierMotors shop in Bremgarten… hope so ๐
I will update the homepage nearly every week, but it is nearly impossible to translate the whole page into English. So my idea is to inform you via this forum and perhaps link to the page.
Okay … latest news … as you might know, the Spitfire MkVIIIc D-FEUR had a small cooling problem at the Duxford Flying Legends show. Returning back home it was time to maintain the plane a bit. As part of this maintanance efforts the Spitfire got new wing radiators installed.
Here the Spit in the shop … what a beauty. By the way, this engine is not the “matching” engine. The original Rolls Royce Merlin is undergoing an overhaul at Mike Nixons Vintage V12ยดs in the United States. After the engine is back in Germany it will be mounted in the airframe and then this Spitfire has it matching heart !

One of the maintenance works is, as I said, to replace the leaking wingmounted coolers. MeierMotors is now able to replace the coolers of a P-51 Mustang, Buchon and Spitfire by new ones in a turnaround time of 6 weeks !
Here the new coolers for the Spitfire

…. thats it for today

The team made some terrific full power runs with the FockeWulf Fw190 A8/N belonging to Hangar10. That engine is really ground shaking , all real beast. Simply wow.

This is very good news. We do need an A-26 or as in this case an On-Mark Marketeer flying in Europe. I had the chance to check this plane out in its Athens hangar back in 2012. Unfortunately it hasn’t flown all that much since arriving in Greece back in 1995. Hopefully this will all change now. Any chance we will see some of the other Kyriakou planes migrate north as well..?

Would be nice to see there Catalina fly again.

Will they keep it as currently configured Matthias? Great to see it and hope it will grace the Duxford sky at some point soon.

mission accomplished …. the A-26B Invader (#44-34769 civil reg N500MR) landed safely after ferry flight from Greece. The route was Athens-Korfu-Perugia-Bremgarten EDTG. It was really a blast as Carl Wymann buzzed the airfield with that fast twin.

The new owner TinaFly GmbH (Ltd) was more than happy as the bomber landed smooth on the airfield. MeierMotors is ordered to do the restoration process. Some work left I suppose.

The ferry crew from left to right : Julian Heinrich, Felix Ohlhoff (mechs MeierMotors), Achim Meier (CEO MeierMotors), Carl Wymann (PIC), Lukas Meier (navigator)

Later some more pictures and of course more later ๐ the restoration process

Very similar look to one of my favourite Mustangs, Quick Silver – is it going to stay in a squadron-less appearance?
