Newsgroups still used?

This seems like as good a place as any to post this question. I have been browsing some Newsgroups using Thunderbird. This includes some aviation groups. On many groups there has been little or no activity this year (or last). I wonder if this means that in many subjects, newsgroups have now faded away. They used to be quite busy some years ago. Does anyone here still use a newsgroup for aviation purposes, and if so which ones?
