Next Forum Meet…

Hi all
The Shuttleworth cleaning brigade were in the pub at Old Warden this evening enjoying an after work pint (well deserved I might add) and the discussion turned to the next forum meet.
Some discussion was had regarding making it at The Carpetbaggers museum at Harrington in Northamptonshire.
There was also a secondary discussion about the tower museum at Twinwood farm in Bedfordshire.
So would anyone be interested in a trip to both sites with a pub lunch in between sometime in the spring?
Harrington opens one week before Easter and I’ll find out the opening times of Twinwood farm.
Answers on a postcard etc-please.
I will say this, in recent times there have been comments passed about a clique being formed of people on this forum. Well, now’s your chance to change that. Last weekend OAG and Aero51 joined us (well aero51 is the curator) for our Woodley trip and I think they enjoyed the experience and they both said we were all relatively normal. So, if you’ve not been to forum gathering before, now’s your chance. You might a0 learn something, b) meet some new and interesting people and c) enjoy yourself. Why not give it some thought.

I was also looking at the web-site for twinwood farm tonight and every summer they have a Glen Miller festival. Would anyone be interested in making that a forum date as they much forties related stuff and I think some fly-pasts.
Again answers on a postcard please.
Cheers

I can’t make it on Saturday. The reason has been alluded to in another thread about forum get-togethers. I shall be at OW for 1000 on Sunday.

Bump .. Which is what we’ll probably have to do to the Jeep to get it started

The jeep will probably need a push anyway.

😡 I could get quite offended by remarks like this!

But, don’t worry chap’s you won’t have to push…
I know where there are some bungee ropes a la Wren!! :diablo: 😀

Erm, I’m ever so slightly concerned about our ability to do Twinwoods and Harrington chaps.

If the plan is to rock up at OW at 1000, bacon butties, get the jeep out, and set off at 1030, earliest arrival at Twinwoods would be 1100. Assume two hours there until 1300, then lunch presumably in a pub, roll out of there about 1430, half an hour to Harrington gets us there no earlier than 1500, and that’s if everything runs smoothly…

Maybe it would make better sense to either have it as OW meet, then trundle up to Twinwoods and back again, or meet at Twinwoods at 1000 and start nosing around there while the OW boys are making their way up?

Thoughts?

Kick off is provisionally 10:00 just in time to grab bacon sarnies 😀 and for me and Fergy1 to extract the jeep from hangar 4. Approx departure time half ten ish? Arrival at twinwoods will be sometime after everyone else has got there! Forty Mph is best cruising speed for us, sorry if you get stuck behind. 😮

Wasn’t the autogyro that crashed Little Nellie and if i remember rightly think it was around 1986.

I shan’t be able to make the forum meet on the 20th, thanks for the offer of a lift Andy, as it’s the weekend before the museum opens for 2005 on Easter Sunday, so I expect that I’ll be busy helping with any last minute work.

Maybe some of the Southern forumites could have a forum meet at the museum??

Geoff.

Ken’s spectacular arrival was at an Ulster Airshow at Newtownards. He had an engine failure at the worst possible moment and made the best of a bad job.

I caught one of thoose dire programmes that show sequences of crashes the other night and they showed a clip of Ken Wallis (He’ll be at Kev’s book signing) crashing one of his autogyros at an airshow. Luckily he walked away with scratches.

Does anyone remember when this happened and where?

Rob

I didn’t see the programme, sot this is a complete guess, but I vaguely remember something happening at Seething some yeras ago, when they used to hold annual airshows there; could that be it?
