Next long shot – A Bridge too Far

Are there any pictures of Piper Aztec G-ASND while it was on set for the film ‘A Bridge Too Far’? According to the mighty Wiki it was a secondary camera ship.

I know most of the aircraft’s history, but this is a new development!

Thanks in advance.

Thats right – G-ANSD was the un-camoflaged one of a pair of Aztecs used. A pic of her on the set would be brilliant…. not that anyone would have pointed a camera at an Aztec when there were 11 Daks, several Harvards and a couple of Austers on the same patch of tarmac……

Was that the camera a/c they used for the early para scenes? These first air-to-air shots were – I believe (or so the story goes!) – of Belgian paratroops dropping from a Belgian a/c (C-130?) up above the Daks and being made to appear (by careful editing and other camera trickery) as if they were exiting from a Dakota! The early “rushes” were, so I’m told, a total disaster. The whole thing was binned and the decision made to “hire” a sizeable amount of 16 Para Bde (+ supporting Units) for the parachuting drop scenes. This is how I came to be involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!
