Actually its second visit, but last time the weather was even worse.

It left at dawn, which is 8.50 in the morning this time of the year.

The An74 is indeed a different design. The engine layout is mainly meant to have the engine exhaust blow over the flaps during take-off and thereby creating a kind of turbo lift force.
Antonov will have had a good look at this plane
