Today’s my birthday, (yeah, yeah, “December 7th… A day that will live in infamy!”) and I got some lovely aviation treats.
Mum and Dad gave me a subscription to Classic Wings, excellent. My sister gave me Tora, Tora, Tora on DVD, Yey! And to cap it off, I had a flyover, right over my house, this afternoon of a Yak 52 and Nanchang (I think) in close fomation heading in a southwest direction. Brill day.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
Tempestnut – Waikato – errrr, no thanks. I wouldn’t touch the stuff with a barge pole. That’s the beer for people with skinheads, goatees and dirty singlets mate! 😀 And it ain’t even made in the Waikato neither!
Don’t worry, I did sink a few Lion Reds, which on the scale of things is not the best beer either but a million times better than Wakatoo, as it’s known.
Dave Lion Red, yes good choice, however things have obviously changed more than I thought. We use to drink DB or Waikato in my university days in Hamilton. More beer than lectures I think. I didn’t notice too many people with skinheads, goatees and dirty singlets in those days or perhaps that was because we were all like that. Have a couple more for me

I Just Saw a Beaver!
Cheers All.
Well, it is now B-Day + 1, and I was just out in the garden picking tomatoes when I got another aerial treat
The New Zealand Warbirds lovely DH Beaver just flew over Cambridge. It looked lovely as usual in its bright red RNZAF Antarctic scheme, but it sounded even better! What an impressive sounding engine, I’d forgotten how deep and throaty it was.
Seventh Heaven again.
Right, tomorrow some Spitfires and Hurricanes please 😀

Happy B Day matey boy, greetings from the Motherland. A certain Mustang whizzes over my place occasionally on a Sunday afternoon during the “season”, so I know how these unexpected flyovers can really make your day !! 🙂
All the best.
Phil.

You talking about Snapper Dave? 😎 And me for that matter (‘cept I wash my singlets). :p
Haha, sorry, no offence – nobody foes it quite like Waikato drinkers (you also require a Rottweiler, a solo mum for a girlfriend, a defunct Valiant in the back yard and no job to qualify as a real Waikato drinking man! 😀 )
Todd, no pics. It was all very impromtu and over very quickly, yet still very nice to see.

Have a great birthday, Dave.
If you get to Classic Fighters, you should also try and get to Warbirds Over Wairarapa, Jan 22-23.
We should hook up if you do as I’m going to both.
Cheers
Chris

I have been sleeping with two duvets and two blankets!! Usually by December it’s one sheet only.
I can get through most days with just one sheet.
