Brother in law was selling some stuff for a friend of his. I spotted it & made an offer to get it pulled down.
It’s a Aircraft Workers Manual from Lockheed Vega in Burbank, dated early ’50’s.
Here’s a couple of scans that caught my eye:

What a lovely find!
A book full of the things that aren’t taught anymore…
Useful facts, practical tips, manners and a work ethos.
Whoa Rigga, I teach this very subject to my students. Maybe I’m just old fashioned though. (you don’t have to answer that)

Really, Wyvernfan, I’m surprised at you ! (wish I’d thought of that)

I also posted this on another forum. One of the guys there jumped on Ebay & found another copy for $17.

What a find! In the pay slip-what was “buck-of-the-month”?

What a pity that everyone is not issued with a copy of that last page “The Art of getting along”

There was also this template for something, penny added for scale.

& here’s the wage claim:

Among the loose papers is a chit to the wage dept pointing out that the worker (Lillian J Black, Clock # 158611) got short changed on her pay packet & they owed her some more $$$
I found out the gal in question is about 90 & lives out near Victorville someplace. She was one of the original Rosies 🙂

I’m going to have a word with a couple of guys I know who work there now & see if I can get the latest version as well.
The rest of the manual is just basic sheet metal instruction/formulas/materials etc, blueprints, hardware & tools.
and this:

That’s a great read – instructional and wise. If only the ‘technicians’ and ‘fitters’ that I deal with daily in the motor trade paid heed to half of the advice there, my life would be much easier. If you are bored and accidentally scan the whole manual, I’d take a copy!
