I find this livery quite birlliant and colourfull. I love yellow and gives the plane in this case a lot of personality. Photo taken in Madrid.

Yes HLX is pulling out of LTN because it did not bring in the right mix of traffic. MAN will be their area of concentration from now on.
Germanwings is a very decent operation. It was created by Lufthansa to keep control of the ever expanding German low cost market, don’t forget LH operates 80% domestic so effectively if they created a proper operation they would win control of this market also. From the opinions I have heard of the airline, I think they run a very succesful operation and have prepared LH for the low cost era quite well.

I believe Hapag Lloyd Express are dropping LTN at the end of this month?

I may be flying Germanwings this summer to Dresden via Cologne so I’m particularly interested in them. So far I’ve only heard good things of them.
I haven’t really heard anything of HLX though, but they seem to be expanding at a very fast rate.

Yeah – Wingflaps2 and myself went to Cologne for the day with Germanwings back in February this year on the A319. A lovely aircraft with dark grey leather seats and the onboard service was pretty much in line with other low-cost jobbies but was (in my opinion) quite cheap in comparison. We only paid £2 each inc. taxes for our daytrip to CGN!! The flights weren’t too full when we went and I believe that they have dropped the middle rotation (of three) to STN and that Hapag-Lloyd Express have/are cutting down at LTN too?
I hope Germanwings do well. They have a decent network and are based in a very heavily populated area of Germany.

It might well be minging but we’re all talking about it – clever marketing!

I think the yellow by itself communicates the “taxi” theme. The black and white is just excessive.

Great shot Keltic, but I never been keen on that livery! Ughh

I think it is quite a clever design with the comparison between the New York Taxi and the aircraft. It gives the impression of the price, speed and flexibility of a taxi ride which is what flying is compared to nowadays. However, on the 737 it is just not pulled off though it is good to see something different from a low cost carrier.

that checkerboard pattern looks like a crash test dummy to me!
By: mongu - 20th June 2003 at 20:02
The actual colour is fine, but the black and white pattern is horrible. If I worked around those aircraft I’d get eyestrain.
