NIMBY's stike again!!!

Learnt this weekend that although planning permission was given to hold the Vintage Aircarft Club’s Daffodil Fly-in AVDC have imposed a limit of 30 movements on us!!!
๐Ÿ˜ก

David Owen (Turweston’s owner) is due to meet the council this week to appeal.

This stems from one NIMBY who recently moved in next to the airfield who has an ear on the council (alegedly)…
๐Ÿ˜ก

The event WILL still be going ahead.

What is it with people who buy houses NEXT to airfields and then complain about the planes!!!????
๐Ÿ˜ก  ๐Ÿ˜ก

Have written and received a letter back from the council:

“Variations of conditions 5 and 7 of planning permission 91/01370/APP relating to number of movements and hours of operation for vintage aircraft days on 19/09/04, 30/10/04, 15/01/05, 13/02/05, 16/04/05, 18/09/05 and 29/10/05 between 09.00 and 18.00 hours.

Our senior planning officers are authorised to decide most of the applications we receive. However some are decided by Councillors who sit on our Development Control Committee. If the application you have commented on is to be determined by our Development Control Committee we will notify you a few days beforehand, inviting you to register to speak at the meeting if you wish…

In considering your comments we are only able to take matters into account which are relevant from a planning standpoint…”

This may be of some use in drafting what you say in any letters you all send.

Agreed on that one Moggy.
I wouldn’t call the 5 VAC events (totalling 5 days) a lot over a whole year.

Bose-x

if you really are a flyer you should be ashamed of yourself, it is people like you not the locals that do aviation a lot of harm.

Get a life and support avaition or just shut up

I myself live close to an airfield and agree that these fly ins can be obtrusive to the locals, so they really should be kept to a minimum like once a year as there are lots held at Turweston. I always side with the locals to stop them turning on my flying.

This bloke is determined.

The airfield is watched and movements logged all the time now. By accounts some of those logging are apparently enthusiasts. I wonder if they know what they are part of.

The Grand Prix Flying will go ahead as it was challenged before but a judicial review ruled that the council were wrong and that the event should happen as long as the GP is at Silverstone and cannot therefore be touched.

This is now hitting our friends who work here. Do help support the airfield. write to AVDC and at least support the airfield and especially the fly-ins.

Thanks

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Hi all after the most frustrating day on Saturday with a fly-in that wasn’t…
(highlights included a visiting Fokker S-11, Yak-52 and Stearman and flypast by a P-51 which if they hadn’t have closed the airfield…)

Please Please write to the council expressing your support for flying and our events at Turweston.

The fight has taken another twist with the [B}NIMBY employing a PI to watch the airfield EVERY DAY! There were TWO observers at the weekend at different point on AND off the airfield watching the traffic![/B]

The airfield and the VAC need your support. All our calendar for the year is effectively suspended….

What’s the betting that a lot of the people using the area for recreational purposes are actually among the walk in visitors to VAC fly-ins?

VAC Fly-ins at Turweston

Dear all

This is the information as posted on Ppr*ne by the Manager at TW.

“Vintage Aircraft Club Meeting Cancelled

For seven years now the VAC have been meeting several times a year at Turweston Aerodrome for fly-ins.

These events have been well attended by enthusiasts and locals alike. Over the years the meetings have become more popular, with the September meeting now a vintage transport meet, with vintage cars, motorcycles and tractors as well as aircraft, a ploughing demonstration, static displays and pig roasts all adding to the day. (The September 2003 event was attended by over 1000 people and a great time was had by all). These club days are essentially for charity and to help towards preserving a little part of our heritage.

For the past three years Aylesbury Vale District Council have granted a relaxation of planning conditions to allow the meetings. This year the Development Control Committee chaired by the local Councillor David Rowlands threw out the application.

Despite a recommendation by Officers for approval, the decision seems to have resulted from objections by just two private individuals recently moved into the village who have been working closely with Councillor Rowlands.

The Committee felt the Meetings would result in โ€˜unreasonable disturbance for local residents and for those people using the area for recreational purposesโ€™. The vast majority of people using the area for recreational purposes have therefore had their recreation denied.

If you feel that you may like to write to the council in support of the VAC events and the airfield the address is .

Mr A Barker
Dept of planning , property and constructionservices
AVDC
66 High st

Help us fight this stupidity… You never know you could be next
Many thanks

I can confirm the event is indeed CANCELLED.

The committee of the VAC will be holding a meeting on the field during the afternoon. I will let you all know the outcome. (Probably Monday when I can get on a PC)

What a way to celebrate our 40th / 30th Anniversary!!

VAC FLY IN CANCELLED

Notification has just been posted on PPRUNE, and I assume it is true. Looks as though the Nimbys may be getting the upper hand on this one. Lets hope that difficulty does not throw a permanent shadow over Turweston.

It would be a cruel irony if we were unable to fly to the newly-located PFA headquarters.
