Nimrod AEW

When the UK decided to develop an AEW version of the Nimrod, was there any attempt to make a copy of the Hawkeye and Sentry but with British developed mast mounted rotating radar and computers or did the designers go straight to the fore and aft mounted radars?

Yes thats great, im building a nimrod and converting it to AEW config, i reckon light tan will be the best colour to use, its quite a matt finish and wont be far out, thanks Boys!

In that case, seen at Kinloss, note the City of Lincoln Badge on the Starboard side of the cockpit only

It looks to me as if they were not painted at all originally, just left as a bare composite construction in the colour of the resin, cloth and honeycombe that was used to make them, painting them would have had a small effect on the performance of the radar which presumably was accepted later on when they went hemp.
