The ASW MR1 and MR2 Nimrods have a weapon pannier under the fuselage. This can carry a variety of weapons including up to 9 torpedoes, unknown number of US B57 nukes, up to 6 fuel tanks and possibly mines.
Does anyone have a full list of ASW Nimrod weapon options? What about SAR stores? Were mixed nuke/torpedoes carried?
How much fuel was carried in bay fuel tanks? Could they carry say three bay tanks and say 6 torpedoes?
Any ideas on the mine types and numbers? I’m guessing updated WW2-era Mk12. THese were finally retired in the early 1990s.
My google-fu only turned up a photo of the MRA4: http://www.militaryaircraft.de/pictures/military/aircraft/Nimrod/Nimrod-MRA4_RIAT2007_1641_800.jpg
Some data here suggests each bay fuel tank was 1140 kg fuel: http://www.aer.ita.br/~bmattos/mundo/surv/nimrod.htm
Some information on the Shackleton, Nimrod MR1 predecessor. It has mixed torpedo and Mk101 nuke information here: http://www.nuclear-weapons.info/o.htm
