Sorry for the close subject matter to a previous thread, but I would like to know the status of Nimrods or parts that are in collections generally?
After posting in Shack cockpit thread I suddenly remembered that Nimrod XV237 passed through Orchards scrapyard, and Demobbed has it as residing nearby at St Austell. Does anyone know more about this one in particular?
Also, does anyone know if any complete Nimrod is promised to a major collection when they go out of service?
All information welcomed.

XV 282
Sorry for the delay, but here as promised are some shots of the last days of XV282…
The first 2 are from ’92 or ’93 when she was out to grass at Kinloss. The last two are from ’97 after she’d been dispatched to Wilkinson’s yard in Elgin… Apologies for the quality, but it was in the days before I had a decent camera and actually knew how to take a photograph!

Very smartly dressed factory workers, I must say, although child labour also seemed to be the norm in those days! The guard dog looks a bit of a wimp, though!:D

I was just off it at the crash gates where a footpath runs……
The problem is that the Police usually move people from there due to the risk of the jet wake blowing or causing injury.
On that day I had done my homework and found a place where the river bank had a natural drop to shelter in, all in all though there was no wake after the 180 turn.
I was joking with the constabulary who came to shut the path, he went on about the safety issues so I told him about the 12 or so sheep that had wandered away up the path further on and asked him if he had ever seen a flying sheep….. maybe today he might if the wake was as powerful as was being suggested.
I suppose he was disappointed on that score but from my point of view getting an AN124 coming directly towards you in anything but a straight line makes for interesting filming and I’m extremely please with the edited results combined with Simon Lowes fantastic overview of events.

Fantastic bit of video. Extremely high quality, and very interesting too. Many thanks for posting the link. Were you actually on base, or just off it?
Cheers,
Richard

Good Evening.
I’m new on here but I can tell you that myself and a colleague video’d in 1080i Hi Def from either end of the runway at Woodford and you should be able to see the finished article when its uploaded to FL350com.
I hope you enjoy it as we had to hang around for 2 days in the freezing cold to get it and its mighty impressive.:)

The picture of the fuselage being loaded brings home the size of the An-124. Bit of a monster

Some great pics of her arrival at Woodford on Ringway reports…

Strikes me that what we need is a definitive list of the airframes… with fates and/or current status… at least the AEW3’s should be easy to deal with…

Ps: will post some before and after pics of XZ282 as soon as i get the scanner working again…!

Nimrod survivors
Hi, just read the Nimrod string, great reading, especially the 237 pics on the dump. I have XV148 since 1999 and spent lots of time and money on trying to bring her to life. Recently had some of the electric up and running, first time since 1982. I am always on the lookout for parts etc, if anybody can help I would appreciate this. Regards Martin (XV148)

Fouga… She wont be scrapped. Some Nimrods will, but not this one. They wouldn’t go to all that trouble for flying her out in a 124 if there were going to turn her into baked bean tins… Then again, stranger things have happened!!!!
Here are a couple more pics… Hope they’re interesting…

I wonder, seeing it with the Nimrod nose fairings removed. If it’s scrapped, would it be possible to restore the cockpit section as a Comet cockpit?
