Pilots with slots for this weekend’s Abingdon event should be aware that permission to fly in has had to be withdrawn.
This , from the Flyer forum.
”With regret and due to circumstances beyond our control I am afraid we cannot accept ANY FIXED WING AIRCRAFT at Abingdon over this coming weekend. A statement giving the reasons will be posted on the Abingdon Air & Country website later today. Neil Porter, the organiser, will attempt to ring everyone who is booked in later today or maybe tomorrow. However, he is a little busy right now.
The show and air display WILL go ahead. The display is being re-jigged so that aircraft can operate out of other airfields and we are hoping to supplement the display with extra items.
I am very sorry to bring your this news but negotiations have gone on long and hard by the organisers over the last few days. Please see the website for more info later today”
What a disappointment for everyone, and no doubt the murky details will emerge in due course.

Thx Laurence. Vamp went straight over Propstrike’s house!
Yes, Tipsy and I are well. Sadly wouldn’t have been able to make Abingdon anyway, twas a bit blustery for us!
I am sure along with many other forumites I really feel for Colin, Neil and the resto of the gang for being stymied by what clearly appears to have been a last-minute ‘moving of the goalposts ‘ by Defence Estates.
Added to their appalling dereliction of their care and maintenance at airfield sites including Abingdon, DE’s record is pretty shocking. Perhaps in this election week in the UK we should add a bit of pressure to remind these civil servants who pays their wages?

Low n Slow: Afraid I have to watch it on the computer. Too far from Abingdon now! F16 is nice just now, but would prefer a Tipsy.
Hope you are well.

Just watching the Vampire right now on the Planes TV.com live streaming, and it looks really great in the sunshine. It is the kind of turbulent sky that can offer very striking photographs, so much more interesting than wall-to-wall blue.
Very glad to see it going well, for the crowds, and the team.
