No Guts, No Glory on the move

Update on TFC website today:

http://fighter-collection.com/pages.php

Glad the guys at TFC were able to get her up last weekend for a farewell performance, but sad to see her go nonetheless – almost seemed to be part of the furniture at DX after 20-odd years.

I hate that kind of attitude. We dont pay anything near as much as the upkeep of the aircraft, but it is still expensive to passionately pursue the hobby round the country !

Indeed it is, I currently do around 400 miles a week to get to pursue my interest in aviation and I love every second of it.

talking the obvious

Maybe that was the deal for getting the new one. I’m guessing only Mr Grey knows the reasons for doing whatever he wanted to do with his own property.
I’ve just sold my car by the way, that ok with everyone?

I hate that kind of attitude. We dont pay anything near as much as the upkeep of the aircraft, but it is still expensive to passionately pursue the hobby round the country especially when your a 16 year old with a paper round. We pay entrance fees, we pay travel costs and as soon as you ask a simple question such as “when its going to fly” somebody who doesnt even own the aforementioned airframe jumps down your throat. A logical question to ask!

A good example was watching the ex Russian Hurricane project grow with the possibility of it being in a small museum with memrobilia round it – I then get told its none of my business when I enquire whats its future.

All of the TFC and OFMC engineers have allways been great when I ask questions as such. OFMC crews have a very dark sense of humour!

Oh and I’m not 16 now. Older and battle weary more like. Obviously the owner has the say on what happens but the more gossip/talk/queries the better hence more publicity!

Who cares that NGNG has gone to the US and the Razorback isn’t flying yet. It will, in time. The Razorback Mustang is pleasing people no end and was worth the wait.

TFC knows exactly how to please the public at airshows and should receive nothing but praise. Bring on the Gladiator, CR42 etc.

Considering the decisions to let the Beaufighter go as well as the Mosquito only implies that there is a deeper meaning behind the collections changes. The public is the winner regarding the many unique aircraft that have been flying in the UK for decades and more interesting aircraft will undoubtedly be appearing in the near future. This is a man and a team with a mission.

Hip hip hurray TFC 🙂

Oh yeah. I did use it a lot. Oops. Sorry about that. Shall I edit it? I supposed I’d better.

Sorry about that.

For the people that can’t understand why we sold her for one that’s not yet assembled and flying let’s just remind ourselves that our friends across the pond have the exact same situation. NGNG is hopefully over in Chino now… in a crate. “Little Demon” is out of the crate and under restoration I would imagine.

Everyone wants it to be put together as fast as a LEGO kit but we don’t want anything going wrong. More haste less speed (although haste means to do something quickly so the phrase seems to cancel itself out). We can’t rebuild it like a LEGO kit if something, God forbid, goes wrong.

We have plenty of planes out there to watch while we wait for it’s debut. Consider it a cracking support band at gig.

When you say ‘we’, are you speaking on behalf of TFC?

Okay, I’m editing this as I wrote it as if I owned TFC. Sorry to anyone who took offence.

I thought No Guts was a lovely sight around our air show circuit. As were all the other warbirds flying in the UK.

How’s that sound?

re:

I’m puzzled that they would sell off one of their most revenue earning aircraft before the new one is ready.

Unfortunately my prayers to win the lotto and bring her back have gone unheeded! Will just have to satisfy myself with my NGNG models!

I believe its a P47G, and no G models made it outside the US on combat duties as I recall. This fact should not diminish anyone’s enjoyment of what will be an excellent representation of the type that almost all the top 8th and 9th Air force aces learnt their trade on. The razorback P47 was still the backbone of the 8th till about mid 44 when the P38 groups converted to the P51 and their numbers overtook the P47. The 56th group of course did not convert to the P51 but was slated to convert to the P51H when the war ended. The 353rd converted in October 44 and still had razor backs on hand as did the 78th when they finally converted in December 44.

Cheers for information 😀

David Arnold/Flying A Services, North Weald, UK, circa 1996-2002.
– Shipped to UK and stored.
– Removed from U.S. civil register, July 2000.

So it has been in the UK for that long eh?, I thought it had arrived from the USA.

Yep its been in the UK for a while, I last saw it in the late 90’s in its box, must go take another look soon
