No Parking at Gla (the mound) for spotting

Hi,
I just been out to Gla tonight to see the Sunwing Airlines 737 from the mound but discovered that the usual parking spots in St Andrews Crescent are now ALL painted with double yellow lines!! (including the nursery road). Any idea when this happened and where do you go now to park?

Does the airport authority not have an obligation to allow parking here as it is designated a parking zone for access to Paisley Moss (as stated on the Renfreshire Community Website – http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/ilwwcm/publishing.nsf/Content/PT-AB-Jennys-Well-Local-Nature-Reserve#Paisley%20Moss)

What do you all think?

Quote from council website:
Paisley Moss is owned by Glasgow Airport Limited. The site was declared a local nature reserve by the former Renfrew District Council in 1993. The reserve is now managed by a partnership between Glasgow Airport, Renfrewshire Council, Scottish Ornithologists’ Club, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

I have emailed Renfrewshire council for comments. I could not find any email for contacting the Airport – so I will probably have to use snail mail 🙁

I’ll keep you informed if I get anywhere.

I happen to know a senior traffic warden in Renfrewshire Council, so I’ll ask about that. I’d also like to know if they plan to have a warden patrol there or will the airport police be issuing tickets to illegally parked vehicles ?

Either way, it sounds like a sledgehammer to crack a nut. It’s the one part of the airport that really has nothing to do with the airport, BAA or aviation generally. It’s a cul-de-sac with a kiddies nursery school on one side and a nature reserve on the other. I wouldn’t be surprised if NCP had something to do with it actually ?

Seems a real shame that. Ive always wondered about that road, you have to pass a sign saying “Authorised vehicles only”( as you turn off the one way towards the taxi rank etc…) yet, as you say, the access road to Paisley Moss is a public road. I have been moved on by the GLA plod a few times on that road( given that i sit up near the crash gate/ workers yard) but, the plod always point out that i have passed a sign saying “authorised vehicles only”
Let us all know if you get any kind of reply from the airport about this.

Hi Ren Frew

I suppose thats a possibility but there were not too many spaces in the first place and i wouldn’t like to leave my car parked there long term.
I think I’ll try and email the airport manager – see if I can get any info.

Sounds like people have been parking there for free and walking to the terminal to catch flights ?
