Nord Norecrin

I just found a picture of this Norecrin taken in 1975 somewhere near Toulouse (I think). It’s now back on the French register as F-BIFU.

On a side note there used to be a Norecrin up north on a paintball park -probably still there.

Photo

In view of all the debate as to the identity of the Exeter Nord, can you post a photo of it, Freebird?

Doubt it – fuselage was dumped outside at Chirk a few years ago.

Wicked Willip :diablo:

O.K. Would be prepared to concede it could be OO-AJK which is reported to be under long term rebuild, but if it is at the back of the hangar, this doesn’t sound too promising. If it is this aircraft it has certainly been travelling having been in Brazil, France, Belgium and now the U.K.

Researching this problem has confused me with Brazilian registrations, are they using PT, PR and PP?

The SNCAN N.1203 Norecrin II at Exeter is possably OO-AJK c/n 261 which was / is a resident and has been noted there for sometime now.
Hope this helps.

It would probably be a safe bet that this is G-BAYL as it is registered in Cornwall.

Afternoon

If anyone is interested, you can still find one of these aircraft, lurking in the back of a hangar at Exeter airport. I’m not sure of its identity, as its completely sliver.

Too simple!

I think that’s a good guess, but you will notice that the window is in the centre of the door on the MD.312 and not offset.

That one was clearly too simple. You’re right. It is a Dassault Flamant. The rest of it – wings, engines, etc – is stored around the other sides of the hangar. When I asked if there were any plans to restore it, the answer was yes. On asking when, the answer was simply – in the future!

Up against the wall!

Here they are. Sorry that its not a top class image. The day was dull, the hangar was crowded, the Noralphas were in the corner and the pigeons were active!

So who can identify the fuselage stacked up against the wall (wicked willip, you’re disqualified!)?

Niort Noralphas

Oi, don’t blame the French. It started life as a German design. Effectively it was a Me 208 built by SNCAN at Les Mureaux after WW2. Maybe not pretty, but a pretty advanced design for its time. I’ll try to find and post photos of the two Noralphas (so who will be the first to specify the differences between the Norecrin and the Noralpha?) which are hangared at the airfield not far south of me.

I flew F-BHTF another SNCAN/Nord 1203 during the Falaise airshow weekend back in 1991 and thought it was a lovely responsive aircraft with typical French idiosyncrasies in the design. I think there was a sighting hole in the floor by the rudder pedals, to see if the nosewheel was locked down or not!

Noralpha

Here’s one. Back in the 1970s at the then, Teesside Airport.

Now that is a Noralpha. Look at the difference in the side window glazing panels. Oh s**t, I have answered my own question (at least in part)!

Here’s one. Noralpha G-ATIX back in the 1970s at the then, Teesside Airport.

I thought it was one of the coolest aircraft I could blag a ride in back then.

Seem to recollect that it would glide about as well as a grand piano if you closed the throttle early on finals though 😮

Don’t blame the French………..

It is a thirty two year old photo, i.e. non-digital!:D Always thought the engine cowling and probably the front leg were wrong on this aircraft, unlike the French to produce an ugly aircraft, in general terms.

Addt.info

Just about the noisiest light aircraft I ever flew in, this one, seen when it was F-BEOB, I believe still exists up at Chirk. Anyone know?

Wicked Willip :diablo:

It may do, but none are currently registered in the U.K.

Addt. info. It was registered G-BEDB and was cancelled in 1991. Wouldn’t have taken much to change that reg!

Yes indeed, quite unusual for the French to create a butt-ugly flying machine, especially when you consider all those beautiful bombers that once (dis)graced the skies!

Second that…
