Happy New Year !!!!

After many attempts (by both past & present museum members) to document the NEAM archive, we’re finally in a position to launch our own Archive & Research website – NEAR. It can be found @ http://NEAviationResearch.org.uk.

There’s still a massive task ahead to sort, research and upload the information to ‘complete the picture’ but thought the New Year would be a good time as any to launch while these developments continue.

Obviously if anyone has additional or new information relating to those subjects covered, the museum would be very interested in hearing from you.

steve, that idea has been suggested yeah, like i say, we want the opinions of the photographers as its you guys who will be paying the entrance fee so you should get a say in how it goes down

Rather than trying to wheel out boxed in aircraft, have you thought about leaving the hangar lights switched off, and using spotlights to illuminate some of the indoor aircraft?

The RAFM at Hendon have been doing that for quite a few years already. 🙂 Couldn’t resist…

would any of our budding photographers be interested in a night photoshoot at NEAM? were looking at doing one in november and trying to get numbers..thoughts and what props/lighting people would like

provisional date is 21st november and will be starting around 16:00 hours

We have some of the oldest roads, thats what the Romans did for us

We also have trains and airports.

Its not as expensive to visit as people think and we are known for our hospitality

Well folks there are GREAT things happening at the museum over the next few months and years for that matter. Lots of fantastic developments to come. On the paying money thing – we do have an insurance bill to cover and to buy the materials needed to do the restoration. There has been SO much work done recently to the Vulcan, the Canberra and the lightning. Lots of new members and things can only go UP from here.

That all sounds brilliant, I would love to pop in and see it all for myself but I live 250+ miles away so unfortunately it would be very difficult! 🙁

it was indeed, i think its part of the reason we dont allow the local yobs to get involved, because they just treat the site like a play ground, ive lost count of how many times ive went under 319 to find lambrini bottle and cans of fosters, or broken beer bottles which have hit the cockpit and smashed the glass

myself and another member last year took a walk down to the bridge over the A19 road and underneath it, was a “den” for said yobs, we found plastic bottles turned into drugs devices etc

they had a rope for which they would climb onto the concrete support for the bridge to hide from the police, we decided to cut the rope so they cudnt use it anymore but alas they just went and bought more

try talking sense to the parents, all you get is the same as you would from the kids, attitude and abuse, its a loosing battle

Nashio I do not feel that your approach is going to bring about the desired results.

I am sorry that NEAM have suffered these problems. The loss of the Valetta was a real blow.

personally i feel that electrified fences are the way to go, but with no warnings, so its a nasty surprise for the Tw4t that wants to get through :diablo:

Similar at Newark; they have a working member rate that kicks in when you’ve done ‘y’ hours per year.

Depending on the constitution of the organisation as a member you also get chance to vote on policy, serve as a trustee etc. Also membership of some organisations gets you discounts on purchases, newsletters, free access to events etc.

Also to get any significant funding you’ll have to be a properly constituted body.

Don’t forget that some volunteers at BAPC affiliated groups have benefitted from free training under the NAHSI scheme.

At the end of the day you pay your money and make your choice!

In that case, do what we do – in return for ‘x’ many hours per year, you don’t have to pay. It’s easy really, and makes no difference to the museum coffers.
