I just wondered why a so many of the regulars on this are Northern based? We don’t get as many LHR, LGW pictures as we do of good old MAN do we?.
(I know Phil J posted some superb pictures of LHR yesteday)
Just wondering thats all.
(I’m not complaining of pictures of MAN, there have been some fanatstic shots posted recently BTW.)

I’ve always been aware of the large number of northerners using this site..well people living in proximity to MAN anyway…assuming you want to call that north. I feel a bit mixed up, I’m from Cumbria originally (the proper north, Manchester should be referred to as The North Midlands, because otherwise there appears to be a gaping hole between the north and Scotland), then went to uni in the east midlands, before moving to love under the apprach to LHR, and now living back in Cheshire (so The North Midlands again). I guess its simple…all the best people live in the north 😉

Us Scots are further North than any of you lot so are undoubtedly the true rulers of these isles, and I wont hear anybody say otherwise ok! 😀
Bloody Northerners!

The Scot’s are fiery, passionate people, and will vehemently defend what they believe in. Say one perfectly innocent, but to their ears, wrong word and you’re done for. Generally a friendly bunch if kept on the right side of.

Ha, indeed like the rest of my fellow Scots I am always willing to stand up for my opinions and beliefs, but that may be helped by my fiery red haired temper :diablo:
When I’m not doing that though, I like to think I’m pretty easy to get along with 😉

I’ve gigged at both Fairfield Halls and the Swan Theatre (there again in May), and found them both to be nice and friendly!
Paul
I see from your avatar that you are musician, what are you in?
Are you at The Swan in May?
If so, what date/s?
Do you want to meet?
PM me if necessary.

Any evidence to support your claim… :p
Only 10 years of very extensive travel around the country, and I did say ‘among’ 🙂
Don’t you Yorkshire people have a daft accents…?
Yorkshire people? Have daft accents? Of course we do!
By the way, just to prove I don’t hate everything about the South, as your location is Croydon/High Wycome, I’ve gigged at both Fairfield Halls and the Swan Theatre (there again in May), and found them both to be nice and friendly!

Us Yorkshire folk are among the more relaxed of the Human species…
Any evidence to support your claim… :p
Southerners…Girls. …they drink alco-pops in huge qualtities.
LMAO. It’s so true! 😀
Not to mention the fact they have daft accents…

By the way…I’ll be at the DUB meet on the 13th Feb if anyone feels the need to kick my teeth in… 😀
Your asked for it…

Being a Southerner, this is going to suprise some people, but I agree with you on that… 😮
For example, if you accidentally knock into someone on the streets in the South, you are still likely to get a mouth full of abuse even if you apologise, but in the North, they have more respect for others…
I can certainly agree with that one to a point. I’m almost contantly travelling around the UK with work, and it’s quite interesting to see how people’s attutudes and mannerisms differ according to where they live.
The Scot’s are fiery, passionate people, and will vehemently defend what they believe in. Say one perfectly innocent, but to their ears, wrong word and you’re done for. Generally a friendly bunch if kept on the right side of.
Us Yorkshire folk are among the more relaxed of the Human species to be found in the British Isles (if you conveniently forget about the Bradford Riot Parts I and II). Spending a large percentage of our existance in a state of mild intoxication, we tend to be a rather cynical bunch who see the world for how it truely is, although we are known for our general amiability. Visitors to the region can often, while asking directions from a local, engage in a random conversation about nothing in particular, and leave even more confused than when they started. All in all for the most part, reasonable and honest people.
Southerners…Girls. Not only do they believe they are the biggest and bestest people in the whole wide world, but to make matters even worse (if that’s at all possible), they drink alco-pops in huge qualtities. Not to mention the fact they have daft accents. I guess they’re OK though, in small doses.
By the way…I’ll be at the DUB meet on the 13th Feb if anyone feels the need to kick my teeth in… 😀

I believe ‘Duck’ to be a bast-ardisation of Dutch or Dutchess, as in ‘Ow am ya me ode Dutch?’ Perhaps seen to be more favourable and polite than the term ‘wench.’ A term of endearment for males in the Black Country was C0ck or C0cker, perhaps a reference to males of the 18th and 19th Centuries being seen as the head of the household and therefore ‘C0ck of the walk.’
As to the North/South divide, I don’t really believe there is one. The divide is only created as a tool to give one demographic group a feeling of superiority over any others. There are good people in the North and the South, just as both sides of the divide have their share of pond life. Divisions like this are created to give sociologists a reason to prove their theories.

One question for people in the Midlands though – why do you call people ‘duck’?

For the first time ever I can read a thread like this and not be insulted, given I now spend 6 months in the North and 6 months in the South every year 😀

So where does the Midlands fall into your catogory? this is going to turn into an endless argument right!? The south will reckon there better and same goes for the east, north, midlands etc! 😉
Better all quit now while we’re ahead and agree to disagree 😀

I know BAA aren’t spotter friendly…
True BAA have shut down viewing galleries but I found the other week at LGW they have no objection to spotters as long as you ‘park and walk’ to the crash gates/fence – it’s no problem but they will move vehicles on. In fact they even have signs up specifically asking spotters to report any unusual activity.
