Was up on the A40 today watching some rather dodgey helecopting type flying thingy gyrating about in a very unproffessional way, but also noted that significant building work is being carried out alongside Western end and between Western Avenue (A40) and the apron area, anyone Know what thats all about??

Unfortunately nothing to do with aviation. Several local military bases are closing and all the personel being moved to Northolt. Included in the move is the British Forces Post Office and I suspect the new building is for them.
