Northolt Night Shoot – 03Dec09

Despite the cancellations, the fifth night photo shoot at RAF Northolt managed to provide 3 aircraft that were new to the event. A King Air from Cranwell, that flew in after we had started, a Griffin helicopter from Shawbury and the home team of 32(TR) Squadron provided a 146 that had its APU powered up and the lights switched on. Even the moon nearly managed to put in an appearance. Although the rain held off a breeze whipped up and with the cold night air there was a significant wind chill factor. Thawed out with a bacon butty afterwards though.

Many thanks to Phil and Lee and the team for a very enjoyable evening and to the Station Commander and every one at SERCO for all the aircraft movements. Flt Lt Bradshaw, the project officer, and the young airman who had volunteered to help look after us who was a bit bemused and couldn’t quite figure out why 70 plus civilians wanted to photograph aeroplanes in the dark. Roll on ‘Photo Shoot VI’

Nice photos.
I never noticed until looking at your shots that the union jack has been removed from the 146’s tail.

Impressive, the white colour scheme really stands out. My fave is the 146 under the moon.

Great shots! (but why anybody would want to photograph a BLACK aeroplane in the dark is just a bit worrying!!).
Thanks for sharing.
