Norwegian air force launched two F-16’s at a number of Tu-160 flying close to Norwegian airspace. The commander of the Nato air defence command centre in Bodö John Espen Lien reports that on the night to the 24th December it launched two fighters to monitor Russian air activity near Norwegian airspace.
So far the have had to launch fighters 37 times this year and have observed a total of 68 aircrafts so far.
This is the second time in the last 7 days that there has been a need to launch Quick Reaction alert fighters to monitor Russian air activity.
On Thursday December 20th Norwegian, Danish and UK fighters where launched after a single Tu-160 was tracked in international airspace close to the Danish border.
