Our annual community Fun Day and Fly-in on Sunday 9 September has a Norwegian theme this year, which marks the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the two Norwegian Spitfire squadrons at the Airfield in 1942.

Once again, the Royal Norwegian Air Force is sending over two F-16s from 331 and 332 Squadrons along with a C-130 Hercules, which will be flying in the veterans and a working party to help complete the ‘Little Norway’ revetment project, which will be formally opened during the event.

Warbirds of Norway will also be visiting with their two Vampires and hopefully the newly acquired T-33. The Norwegians will be arriving on Friday (time tbc) and departing mid afternoon on Sunday. The Hercules will drop off the passengers and depart on Friday, returning again on Sunday.

Entry on Sunday is £5 per person. Proceeds will be going to the RAFA Wings Appeal. All children’s rides and entertainment will be free – a big incentive for families to attend. Gates open at 10.00, community arena events from 11.00.

There will also be military vehicles and re-enactors, a classic car and bike show (including a Harley Davidson ride-in), community displays, a large static display of radio-controlled model aircraft and lots more. Kids will have their own “Adventure Corner” with free rides, bouncy castles and entertainers. There are also Community Arena displays .

The aircraft static park will feature a special line up of trainers celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Central Flying School – you won’t see this anywhere else!!!

A provisional list of aircraft attending, which will be updated as we find out more:
