Nostalgia

I thought you might like to see this piece of nostalgia that someone at work told me about.

Unless I am being a bit dim and I do lack a Masters Degree, so either put me out of my misery – publicly or PM……:)

Hi Pete, and a Good Morning to you. No, I was relating to one mans very special red pen.
I don’t think it will take somewon like you to need a Masters Degree to know what and who I mean.
Jim.

Linc, unless you are talking about the dreaded ball point pen, coloured fountain pen inks have been used for decades and more primitively for centuries..

My grandfather always had on old “inkwell” of blue, red and green ink on his desk. And of course Churchill always notoriously used red ink when First Lord of the Admiralty.

I remember when there was no such thing as a red pen,or to be rather pedantic, a pen that wrote in red ink.

Blocks of soap. 2 feet long, 4 be 2. Had to cut it with a hot knife or a cheese wire board.

And strange tasting cheese sandwiches for the following week or so? 😮

PeeDee, I have a Sinclair C5 with a Merc V8 which would blow you away:D
And a Segway with a small block V6 which would give you a run for your money.
Jim.

I vill be on ze autobahns soon. 4 new boots, new gearbox oil, temporarily unleashed the engine management system. Will I get to the 187 top speed?
I know the car will, but I doubt if I take it past the 155 TBH. Not only will my nerves get the better of me, but the fuel consumption is at 4 maybe 5 mpg at that point.

Back on topic.
Cars…..you could hear a car round the corner and Name it! Each one had a sound and a personality and of course a look. All from the same Jelly mould now.

There’s another one, Jelly and Blancemange for Sunday treat!

Nostalgia.
When a ciggy wasn’t 7 shillings EACH! 35p for you younguns.

Vim or Ajax left in the sink overnight.
Dad’s teeth in a large glass with Steradent, overnight.
Shampoo sold in sachets because it was far too expensive to buy a bottle.
Blocks of soap. 2 feet long, 4 be 2. Had to cut it with a hot knife or a cheese wire board.
Brown overalls (Arkwright in Open all hours style) with rubber buttons which fastened on like a cufflink onto a smaller button at the back. This quick release mechanism was to allow removal of them before they went for a boil wash (With a dolly blue) and dry in the mangle.

Rover P6 3.5 litre. V8. Need I say more.
Can’t argue with that.
V8, nothing to prove sonny boy. LoL.

If I get a RVMirror full of boy racer – because they see a big ole car with a bloke in it – and they expect it to be sluggish……click goes me button on the console, down goes me foot to the special extra bit of kickdown. Their jaw dropped faces as 2 tons of lounge leaves them behind is a joy to see :diablo:
