can anybody please identify specifically these two items and their usage. They appear to be a magneto and some form of gun sight.
A request from downunder whilst on my recent travels.

Well if it’s not a quiz and there’s no prizes… :p
It might help if you can clarify if it was Australia or New Zealand they were in / from? While there’s a lot of common aircraft and equipment, there’s a fair number of types and things that can be eliminated by being specific to one or the other. Or did you find them on Norfolk Island? 😀
Lots of Wartime RAAF kit had RAAF rather than just AM stamping, but I don’t know how specific that was. One I know of is Setter’s ‘Sight Reflector Mk.IIIA’ which has a A’crown’M with ‘AUST’ underneath on the box and on the sight.
As they say in academia; ‘it’s not my field really.’
James,
I found them here, Corowa, Oz, at the ‘Jeepmeet’ the day after I was with you.

They belong to David Lindop who asked if I could identify a usage and find a home for them.
The Bendix Scintilla Magneto is an SP2RN-6 and the gunsight Section & Ref. is 8B/3230.
It was Christmas Island, but the plane developed a fault and we had to turn back after 40 minutes. 🙁 Valiant effort. 😉

Hi Mark 12.
The top one is indeed a magneto made by (now defunct/taken over) Bendix Scintilla. Last year, I fitted a couple of similar/same mags to a Continental A65 fitted to a Jodel 112. Lovely mags. So efficient that they didn’t need impulse couplings, and that was with hand swinging.
Can’t help with the gunsight.
