The plaques are probably in a local scrap yard and if they can be found, they could be recovered.
There were some similar plaques recovered from a scrap dealer earlier in the year. I cannot remember all of the details, but as I understood it the low life who had stolen them had cut them into four pieces. If that is the case here it may be that repairing them could cost more that getting new ones made.

I didn’t realise that the Royal Navy memorial on Plymouth Hoe had been targeted earlier in the year.

I don’t know the Manchester memorial but if the well-known and very public one on Plymouth Hoe can be attacked over two nights there seems little hope for the nation’s memorials.

It’s just a symptom of society, an unpalatable one I admit, but all this talk of retribution handed out anonymously from the safety of the PC is just empty gesture. These things are easy to say, but we don’t see many reports in newspapers of the thieves being found dead in a metal crusher, or of them being placed in front of a firing squad.
There is one comment though with which I wholeheartedly agree….
“but they can never even touch the respect and gratitude of the vast majority. The real memorials are in our hearts. “
Well said Mr. Creosote.

Plaque thefts
It’s the likes of the low-life who stole these plaques that these people died defending.
The plaques are probably in a local scrap yard and if they can be found, they could be recovered.
I’ve heard of scrapped stolen items being recovered but the scrappy demanded to be paid for them. He will probably want his bit on top too but if they can be found it’ll be cheaper and quicker than buying new ones.

Words fail me. Utterly deplorable.
I very much doubt that the vermin who did this will be caught…
Even if they are, they will likely get a slap on the wrist, “Therapy” and probably a holiday at the taxpayers expense.
Personally I know what I would like to do to them!
As they are so interested in scrap metal, feed them into one of those big shredders. Very slowly.

Scumbags… even if they are caught it’s just a slap on the wrist. What incentive is there to stop offending, none what so ever:mad:
Even sending them to the front lines is too good for them.

😡 It’s not only the low lifes that steal this sort of thing that bug me…. it’s the equally unscrupulous scrap merchants that buy the damm stuff too.
Considering how obviously identifiable a lot of this nicked stuff is, such as these plaques – how disrespectful are they to even consider handling the items. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll never trust a scrap dealer thanks to those amongst them that have given the entire trade a very bad name…
I’ll be glad when the price of metals drops way lower too – put a lot of them out of business hopefully.
Sorry but this really gets my back up.:mad::mad:

I’d like to see these people erased from history; or to put it another way, to be conscripted to fight in a foreign land, to die there, with every mortal remain lost in some quagmire, and, with almost the only evidence of their existance being their names on a memorial, removed, and in all probability reduced to scrap by some turd.
By: Mr Creosote - 5th November 2008 at 12:58
These worthless little sh1ts can steal or damage things like this, but they can never even touch the respect and gratitude of the vast majority. The real memorials are in our hearts.

With the price of scrap metal plummeting, we should see less of this.
Not that the mindless ones will have realised this yet.
