Not quite Kai Tak but still one hell of an impressive approach for everybody, on the plane and the on the ground.

RE: Not quite Kai Tak…..
Yes I see what you mean. I was considoring the fact that the aircraft shouldn’t have been flaring for a touch down at that point, but its height would suggest otherwise.

Don’t forget though that the DC-10’s nose has a tendancy to pitch up near touch down because of the centre of gravity of the jet being so far rearwards, I’ve heard of tail strikes due to this design ‘feature’.

The AOM DC10 looks to be trying to ‘pull up’. The flare is too great (greater than the others) and it just doesnt look natural…if you see what I mean.

That AOM Dc-10 is indeed very low. Any lower and you could touch the thing!!

A do believe there is no ILS at Saint Maartain. I do love that place though…great stuff. I’ve said before…i will go there one day soon!
P.s. that KLM 747 classic looks a bit shabby. (probably an old photo)

St Maarten is a very good place with some excellent and spectacular approaches.
That AOM DC-10 looks far too low though!
