We all gnash our teeth, I’m sure, when we see a rare airframe exported. People often blame the owners, but shouldnt we condem the mentality of airshow organisers who refuse to book anything that isnt a Spitfire or Hurricane? If it wasnt for lack of bookings, we would see the Flycatcher, Meteor F8, Canbera TT18 etc instead of having been sold due to lack of bookings?

RE: Not the owners
Yeah but joe public cant tell a spit from a magister, so surely it would make sense to cater for both markets. If Joe public doesnt know (or care) what he’s looking at…
Do they still have airshows at North Weald? A freind of mine has just moved right next to it!

RE: Not the owners
True,
But what you have to remember is that we , as aviation buffs, only make up a relatively small percentage of airshow crowds. The general public, which is who the organisers are trying to attract, really only want to see and probably only recognise the Spitfire, Red Arrows, Tornado etc. If none of those are on the menu then Joe public and his family are unlikely to be attracted.
We have to be thankfull for places like Duxford and Old Warden for giving us a lot of want we want as enthusiasts.
That was always a good thing about the ‘Great warbirds’ shows that used to happen at Malling and Wroughton, shame they cant be resurected.
