Culdrose 28th July 2010
As I haven’t finished processing photos from previous events yet (Yeovilton & Kemble), this is just a taster.
In particular I was pleased to see a HS/BAE 125 CC3 Dominie from the RAF’s 32 (The Royal) Sqn, which landed on during the morning and departed again about an hour later. I suspect this was a regular scheduled flight, or a dignatary attended the show.
The HS125 Dominie T1 has been in RAF service since 1965, but they rarely appear at airshows, in fact I’ve never seen one display – although I did see one in a static park either last year, or the year before.
Please RAF, the Dominie has done 45 years sterling service, it’s time to start showing it off, even if it’s just a few top and bottom view flypasts.

Just a couple more. I didn’t use my camera much on this day and left a little prematurely, so only saw the Hunter/Strikemaster team from the disabled car park.

Ah, Culdrose Air Day..brings back fond memories for me as a youngster…Kenneth More opening a display from a static replica of Genevieve which I think was built on the station..my first ever sighting of a Spitfire was Jeffrey Quill arriving in AB910..my first ever flight was in a Miles Messenger..about 10 bob (50p!!) I think…taxying across the airfield in the back of one of 831’s Avengers…the obligatory removal by helicopter and dropping from a great height of an “illegally parked” car (always a great favourite with the crowd)…being told not to take a picture of the white trials Buccaneer by a squaddy “‘cos it’s a secret plane”…the Hiller UH-12 display team…
Happy days.
And nice pictures, thanks.

Yes, I agree Wyvernfan, lovely shots of the Seafire. A vision that comes to mind was cycling to Gatwick from Brighton in 1953 and seeing wall to wall Seafires and Spitfires parked in front of Airworks hangers awaiting refurbishing. We wandered among them and noted the serials without being turfed off the field like you would today. What a festering twit I was not to take a single pic!
Here’s one from Gatwick 1952

Added another view of the Spitfire in first batch and the Spitfire views are all at 1300pixels now

Nice shots!
So I take it the jetstreams are on their way out? Ashame if thats the case! I used to see them always flying around down there. Once I was practicing NDB holds at St Mawgan with one of the jetstreams doing the same thing below me.

I’m glad you got some good shots of XH558 on its first pass….I was in the gents! :)….I managed to grab a couple of passable shots later in the session…I remember seeing Vulcans banking round Lincoln when in service….very deterrent looking bat-like plane!

No problem Longshot. I use a reconditioned Fuji 6500fd myself, and have owned an S5600 previously – which was damaged, unfortunately. I simply can’t afford anything better.

I had put these on the ‘Anyone going to Culdrose’ thread but I thought they’d be better all in one ‘report’ thread , so i hope ‘Robant’ doesn’t mind….and I look forward to more of his. I can’t be bothered to carry a big clunky camera, but I have to admit I blew a lot of shots. particularly fast-moving fly-bys… the ‘Exeter Air Force’ fly-by shot was only made passable with a lot of photoshop sharpening. I quite like the 10-per-page thumbnail display (but I’m running out of allocated memory!

Looks like a good selection on offer.. thanks for posting.
For me that Seafire is one of the most interesting and photogenic types around. It just looks so right and simply stunning.

Note ; 32 Sqdn do NOT operate Dominies; They are HS/BAe 125s. They are Garrett powered. Dominies are Viper535 powered……

Culdrose 2010
Snaps with a compact Fuji S5600 bridge camera. Didn’t get a shot of the the 10-ship Balbo (3 Sea kings, 3 Merlins, 4 Jetstreams)…apparently the last year for the Jetstreams

Nice shots there! I wish I had gone to the airday when I lived in Cornwall!
I think the 32sqdrn planes are relatively frequent vistors down there. I seem to remember on my qualifying cross country back in 2007 having the BAe 146 head about 1000ft or so above me in the opposite direction (it was under radar vectors) when I was heading back to Perranporth from St Just.
