Noticeable by absence

On another thread, JDK added his usual sig line of “Right. That’s enough tea, let’s go see some more old aeroplanes.” S.R. Patterson, UK, May 2004.”

Now, for the last few days young Master P. has been very quiet which leads me to suspect that he has taken a part-time job to help pay for the gems of our aviation heritage that he plans to take back with him to the wilds of Kansas.

We will know for certain when he gets a round in at the Red Lion and after he has bought the beer and says “Would you like fries with that?”

betcha he looks very smart in his little uniform with his five gold stars!

Real Crowd Pleaser

As we know operating Warbirds is a bit expensive. So what is needed to bring in the bookings is a real crowd pleaser.

And what do we enjoy most at an airshow…… beer and burgers. So here we have SRP’s guarantee to keep the American Crowds happy.

Note the road kills under the canopy.

Steve

With a price tag for TD248 at around £900,000 I can understand why the part time job. I guess you could always go for a bit of sponsorship. 😀

How about HFL’s Mk XVI TD248. Yes yes it’s a low back, but with a Merlin 266 it’s got to be the closest thing to an American Spit. 😀

Shall I get my coat? 🙁

OOOOOhhhhhh! Spitfire. OOOOOhhhhhhhh!

Gentlemen, I have just seen my future thanks to Merlin70.

If any of you mention this to my wife at Legends I will have to kill you.

And Woody, a Tempest II you say? Hmmmmmm. Now that would be nice.

Speculation
PS I saw some very interesting things in Ezell’s hanger that I’m not allowed to
talk about. Maybe Ashley will comment on that little project that his dad
is working on
Personally my fingers are crossed that it might involve a Tempest II; particularly given the cracking job on the Seafire.

Also, I’ll have you know Melvyn that I am now the new Assistant Drive-Thru Manager at Joe’s Burger Barn in Warrensburg, Missouri (Home of the Warrensburger), although I occasionally get seconded to the fry line. Much better uniform as an ADTM, and a real cap instead of that little paper number the burger fitters have. I also get to say things like “Don’t just stand there, get that order up!”, so the power of my office is pretty impressive.

I am indeed underwhelmed at the level of your career move. Just think it was only a few months ago you were cleaning out the toilets, and then you got promoted and were given a brush!!

But enough about me and my new career (BTW, at this rate I’ll have a Spitfire when I’m 186),

TOO SOON, TOO SOON

how is the Rearwin Cloudster coming along?

It is doing well. Should be moving it in a couple of weeks. Cowlings are underway and I should get the coaming and screen on this weekend.

Out of the chicken coup yet, Melv?

Over here we call it the closet, and no.

Come on fellas, Nelson’s getting bored now that he doesn’t have the Seafire to restore anymore. Besides, he knows he can’t keep my Sea Fury forever.

“Re: Maybe this one? JG688”

Opps Typo. I mean’t JG668

” guess it must have moved on considerably since I saw it in ‘Victoria’ in June 1998″

I would not bet the bank on that being the case

Or maybe JG668!

“Re: Maybe this one? JG688”

You may think that.. I could not possibly comment!

“re: From the photos a friend showed me she looked like a relatively easy and quick restoration “

In their haste to find an RAF serial for this very attractive collection, a closer look at the Armour plate would have suggested that JG668 would be a better bet.

I guess it must have moved on considerably since I saw it in ‘Victoria’ in June 1998.

JG688 to India…….etc.

If you have the money!!! But as someone else (better qualified than I) said on TV recently “she could be completed in 18 months” but of course you would

a) Have to give it to the right people
b) have the money!
c) be prepared to be disappointed over how ‘ready’ she is!

People BUY Mustangs? Gosh. Thought they paid you to take ’em away. People make enough fuss about them. 😀

As ‘Connie’ Edwards once said to me:-

“Mustangs – they are like ****holes – everybody has got one”

At the time he had about six – the residue of the Guatemalan A/F I believe.

I only found out the first 3 parts of the serial no. which I think was JG6** although I may be wrong there. It had gone to Australia and crash landed on an outback airfield post war. Rather than repair they shunted her into a barn where she lay until recovery to England. From the photos a friend showed me she looked like a relatively easy and quick restoration to flying but she is (was?) up for sale.

Amazing. 😉

Interesting provenance.
